Truth hurts... awesome points Coach! đź
YOU DESERVED THAT LOSS!
3 Pickleball Mistakes That Guarantee You Get Exposed đ
You didnât lose because of the wind. You didnât lose because of the lighting.
You lost because your decisions were, letâs be generous, questionable.
Pickleball punishes bad habits fast. The worst part?
Most players repeat the same losing patterns like itâs a loyalty program.
So here it is, clean, direct, and maybe a little uncomfortable:
If you keep doing these three things, you will keep losing.
MISTAKE #1: PLAYING âFAIRâ INSTEAD OF PLAYING TO WIN
You know exactly what Iâm talking about.
You hit one to the backhand, then one to the forehand, then you rotate like youâre running a democratic offense.
Congratulations. You just made your opponent comfortable.
Comfortable players donât miss. Comfortable players beat you.
What This Looks Like:
You âmix it upâ for no reason
You avoid targeting weakness
You pride yourself on being unpredictable, but not effective
Random is not strategic. Itâs just random.
If your opponent has a weaker side and you donât live there, youâre basically helping them win.
MISTAKE #2: HITTING LOW PERCENTAGE HERO SHOTS LIKE YOUâRE IN A HIGHLIGHT REEL
Ah yes! The âthis is gonna look amazing if it worksâ shot.
The problem? It usually doesnât.
Trying to speed up from below the net, going for a line you hit 2 out of 10 times, forcing a winner when a simple reset keeps you in the point.
Thatâs not aggressive. Thatâs reckless.
What This Looks Like:
Speed ups off bad balls
Down the line attempts under pressure
Smashing balls that are already below net height
You donât lose points because youâre too patient. You lose because you try to end points you havenât earned yet.
High level players win by making fewer dumb decisions, not more flashy ones.
MISTAKE #3: PLAYING REACTIVE INSTEAD OF RUNNING THE POINT
This one is silent and deadly.
You step on the court with no plan, just vibes, hope, and whatever happens next.
Your opponent hits â you react.
They move you â you follow.
They dictate â you survive.
Thatâs not playing. Thatâs defending your way to a loss.
What This Looks Like:
No intention on your serve or return
No pattern or setup
Constantly adjusting instead of controlling
If you donât decide how the point is going to be played, your opponent will.
They wonât be as nice about it as you are.
Most players donât need more drills, They need fewer bad habits.
You need a new standard, because right now? Youâre practicing things that are quietly sabotaging you in matches.
If you want to stop losing like this, flip the script:
Stop playing fair â Start exploiting weakness
Stop forcing winners â Start building points
Stop reacting â Start deciding
Do that, and something crazy happens:
You stop hoping to win, and start expecting it.
This game is brutally honest.
It rewards discipline. It exposes ego. It punishes âjust playing around.â
If any of this stung a bit? Good. Thatâs awareness kicking in.
Now go clean up your game, because right now?
Itâs costing you wins.
đ„WIN MORE. FAST.
