Thank you to Elysa Laporte for taking the initiative and stepping up in this matter. Time is passing, and since Fall 2025, we were supposed to have closed this chapter; meaning the full recovery of our albums as well as the money from albums sold in stores.

I encourage any bands who have not yet retrieved their albums stored with Elysa to do so as soon as possible. Please note that the CDs stored at PAG do not include the ones still in retail stores.

On our end, we have already recovered our CDs from Elysa, who has consistently cooperated with us in a professional manner.

What we regret, however, is the absence of the president of PAG, who had stated he would handle the retrieval of albums from stores. To this day, no record stores have been contacted since his announcement in 2025.

Merci à Elysa Laporte d’avoir pris l’initiative et les devants dans ce dossier. Le temps file, et depuis l’automne 2025, nous étions censés avoir fermé ce chapitre; soit récupérer tous nos albums ainsi que l’argent des ventes effectuées en magasin.

J’encourage les groupes qui n’ont pas encore récupéré leurs albums entreposés chez Elysa à le faire rapidement. À noter que les CDs stockés chez PAG ne comprennent pas ceux toujours en magasins.

De notre côté, nous avons déjà récupéré nos CDs auprès d’Elysa, qui a toujours collaborée de manière professionnelle avec nous.

Ce que nous déplorons, en revanche, c’est l’absence du président de PAG, qui avait affirmé qu’il s’occuperait de récupérer les albums en magasins. Or, aucun disquaire n’a été contacté depuis son annonce en 2025.

Depuis plusieurs mois, Dany Marchand, président de PAG Production et Distribution, est resté silencieux. Malheureusement, il n’a pas procédé à la récupération complète des CDs encore présents chez les disquaires, tel qu’il l’avait lui-même annoncé dans sa publication du 2 juin.

👉 Peut-on conclure qu’il a agi de mauvaise foi? Car il reste encore des gens qui croient qu’il respectera ses engagements, alors que les faits démontrent le contraire.

Nous encourageons les groupes lésés dans cette affaire à communiquer directement avec Elysa Laporte, vice-présidente et trésorière de PAG, afin de récupérer leurs CDs qui sont toujours entreposés en inventaire chez elle.

En ce qui concerne les CDs présents dans les magasins, une autorisation légale est nécessaire pour les récupérer.
Puisque M. Marchand refuse manifestement de coopérer et de clore le dossier de PAG, ce qui maintient plusieurs groupes ainsi que Mme Laporte en otage de cette situation, nous n’aurons malheureusement d’autre choix que d’entreprendre des démarches légales.

For several months now, Dany Marchand, president of PAG, has remained silent. Unfortunately, he has failed to retrieve the remaining CDs from record stores as he himself announced in his June 2nd statement.

👉 Can we say he acted in bad faith? Many still believe he will honor his commitments, but the facts clearly show otherwise.

We strongly encourage the bands affected by this situation to contact Elysa Laporte, Vice President and Treasurer of PAG Production et Distribution, in order to recover the CDs still stored in inventory at her location.

As for the CDs still in stores, legal authorization is required to retrieve them.
Since Mr. Marchand has clearly refused to cooperate and properly close PAG’s case… holding not only several bands but also Ms. Laporte hostage in this matter, we will unfortunately have no choice but to pursue legal action.

Hier, un déplacement au QG de PAG Production et Distribution à Drummondville a été effectué pour récupérer des CDs qui se trouvaient jadis chez Dany Marchand, président de PAG. Plus de 2 heures de route ont été nécessaires pour ramasser 102 CDs, ce qui fait descendre le total dû à NewCore Music de 466 à 354 CDs.

Nous avons également récupéré les CDs de certains amis, notamment Decadawn, Behind An Empire et Sick & Twisted Records, grâce à la collaboration d’Elysa Laporte, vice-présidente et trésorière de PAG.

👉 Message aux groupes dont les CDs n’ont pas encore été récupérés : veuillez contacter PAG par courriel, comme indiqué sur leur page Facebook, car PAG ne prendra malheureusement pas l’initiative de vous rejoindre.

En ce qui concerne Dany Marchand, président de PAG, il n’a toujours pas donné suite aux engagements qu’il avait pris ces derniers mois, démontrant ainsi qu’il n’avait jamais eu l’intention de tenir parole. Son attitude laisse croire qu’il cherchait plutôt à gagner du temps pour s’éclipser et décourager ceux qui voulaient récupérer ce qui leur revient de droit.

Yesterday, a trip was made to PAG Production et Distribution’s HQ in Drummondville to recover CDs that were previously in the hands of Dany Marchand, president of PAG. It took over 2 hours of driving to pick up 102 CDs, bringing down the total owed to NewCore Music from 466 to 364 CDs.

We also recovered CDs for some friends, including Decadawn, Behind an Empire, and Sick & Twisted Records, thanks to the collaboration of Elysa Laporte, vice-president and treasurer of PAG.

👉 A message to the bands whose CDs have not yet been retrieved: please contact PAG by email, as mentioned on their page, since unfortunately PAG will not reach out to you on their own.

As for Dany Marchand, president of PAG, he has still not followed through on the commitments he made in recent months. This proves he never truly intended to keep his word, but rather to buy time, disappear, and wear down those who were determined to recover what rightfully belongs to them.

Depuis des mois, c’est silence radio de la part de M. Marchand, président de PAG Production et Distribution.

Sincèrement, nous aimerions mettre un terme à cette histoire une bonne fois pour toutes. Aucun développement concret n’a eu lieu, mis à part la collaboration d’Elysa Laporte, qui s’est montrée disponible pour remettre les CDs encore en stock chez elle.

Cependant, il s’agit uniquement des CDs entreposés, et non de ceux toujours en magasins.

Nous invitons donc les groupes concernés à la contacter directement afin de récupérer leur matériel entreposé.

En ce qui concerne NewCore Music, 466 CDs se trouvent toujours entre les mains de PAG, sans nouvelles quant à leur sort.

We sincerely want to bring this story to a close once and for all. There has been no concrete progress, aside from the cooperation of Elysa Laporte, who has made herself available to return the CDs that are still in her possession.

However, please note that these are only the CDs stored at her place — not the ones still in retail stores.

We invite the bands concerned to contact her directly to recover their remaining stock.

As for NewCore Music, 466 CDs remain in PAG’s hands, with no update or explanation regarding their status.

🛑 Annonce Officielle – PAG Production et Distribution: Abandon, insouciance et silence de Dany Marchand (président) 🛑

Il est temps de faire la lumière sur une situation désolante qui affecte de nombreux artistes et labels de la scène indépendante québécoise.

Pendant plusieurs années, PAG Distribution a servi d’intermédiaire entre artistes et disquaires afin de distribuer des albums physiques partout au Québec. De nombreux groupes et labels ont confié leurs CDs bien avant 2023, dans l’espoir d’une visibilité et de ventes équitables à travers le réseau de disquaires indépendants et Sunrise.

En 2023, Dany Marchand et Élysa Laporte sont officiellement devenus les nouveaux gestionnaires de PAG, annonçant publiquement vouloir donner un second souffle à l’organisme. En janvier 2025, ils ont confirmé la fermeture de PAG via une publication Facebook, tout en s’engageant à :
• Contacter les disquaires pour fermer les consignations,
• Récupérer les CDs invendus,
• Collecter les paiements des ventes,
• Et verser à chaque artiste ou label son dû.

À ce jour, aucune de ces promesses n’a été tenue.

👉 Aucun suivi sérieux n’a été fait auprès des disquaires.
👉 Aucun relevé de vente n’a été transmis.
👉 Aucune communication directe n’a été envoyée aux artistes concernés.
👉 Pire encore, certains magasins ont fermé entretemps, entraînant des pertes définitives de matériel et de revenus.

Et maintenant, Dany Marchand fuit toute responsabilité. Il ignore les messages, évite les suivis, et refuse de rendre des comptes. Ce silence et cette disparition démontrent une insouciance grave, une gestion chaotique et un manque de respect total envers la communauté qu’il prétendait soutenir.

Le fait de se réfugier derrière le statut d’OSBL ou de bénévolat n’excuse en rien la négligence, le laxisme et la désinvolture dont il a fait preuve depuis deux ans.

🎤 Nous dénonçons publiquement le comportement de Dany Marchand, son abandon des responsabilités et son absence totale de reddition de comptes.

La scène locale mérite mieux.
Les artistes méritent d’être traités avec professionnalisme, respect et transparence.

Nous appelons les groupes et labels affectés à témoigner, partager leur expérience et à se regrouper pour faire valoir leurs droits.
Il est temps de faire entendre notre voix collectivement.

🛑 Official Statement – PAG Distribution: Negligence, Abandonment & Silence from Dany Marchand (president) 🛑

It’s time to bring clarity to a deeply disappointing situation that has affected many independent artists and labels across Quebec.

For several years, PAG Distribution acted as an intermediary between artists and local record stores, distributing physical albums across the province. Many artists and labels entrusted their CDs to PAG well before 2023, believing in the promise of visibility and fair distribution through independent and Sunrise stores.

In 2023, Dany Marchand and Élysa Laporte officially took over as the new administrators of PAG, publicly claiming they wanted to breathe new life into the organization. Then, in January 2025, they announced PAG’s permanent closure via a Facebook post while making the following commitments:
• To contact stores to close consignments,
• To collect unsold stock,
• To retrieve and pay out sales revenue, and
• To ensure that every artist and label receives what they’re owed.

To date, none of these promises have been fulfilled.

👉 No real follow-up has been made with stores.
👉 No sales reports have been shared.
👉 No direct communication was ever sent to the artists and labels involved.
👉 Even worse, some record stores have shut down, resulting in the permanent loss of physical stock and potential earnings.

And now, Dany Marchand is nowhere to be found. He has gone silent, ignores all communication, and refuses to take responsibility. This level of negligence, disorganization, and disrespect toward the very artists he claimed to support is simply unacceptable.

Hiding behind the status of a “non-profit” and the excuse of being a “volunteer” does not absolve one of responsibility or accountability.

🎤 We are publicly calling out Dany Marchand for failing to fulfill his responsibilities and abandoning the trust of the independent music community.

The local scene deserves better.
Artists deserve professionalism, transparency, and respect.

We invite all affected bands and labels to speak up, share their experiences, and consider joining forces to demand accountability and explore potential collective action.

Aujourd’hui, 1er juin 2025, marque la date butoir officiellement annoncée par PAG Production et Distribution sur sa page Facebook concernant le rappel du matériel laissé en consignation pour la distribution dans les points de vente au Québec. Dans ce contexte, plusieurs questions demeurent sans réponse, notamment : pourquoi cette opération a-t-elle été si longue à s’organiser, et pourquoi sa finalisation s’étendra-t-elle encore sur plusieurs mois ?

Nous demeurons sceptiques, tout en espérant que les engagements pris seront respectés et que les biens dus seront effectivement restitués. Il est important de souligner que notre intention n’est aucunement de nuire à PAG, qui a longtemps offert un service appréciable avant les changements de personnel survenus il y a deux ans, changements qui, il faut le reconnaître, ont contribué au déclin de l’organisation.

PAG Distribution, organisme à but non lucratif dirigé par Dany Marchand et Élysa Laporte, a annoncé sa fermeture dans une publication Facebook en juillet 2024, bien qu’aucune activité concrète n’ait été observée depuis 2023. Une déclaration plus formelle a suivi le 17 janvier 2025, accompagnée d’une mise au point le 16 avril, au ton confus et défensif, qui cherchait davantage à atténuer la gravité de la situation qu’à offrir des solutions concrètes.

Malgré l’impact direct sur plus de 100 groupes et labels, PAG n’a jamais pris l’initiative de contacter ses partenaires pour les informer de la fermeture ni pour leur transmettre les démarches à suivre. Cette absence totale de communication proactive constitue une négligence regrettable, et a semé une confusion généralisée. Plusieurs artistes ignorent encore aujourd’hui la date limite du 1er juin 2025, censée servir à indiquer s’ils souhaitent récupérer leurs produits ou maintenir leur présence chez Sunrise Records jusqu’à épuisement des stocks.

Face aux demandes légitimes de clarification, la réponse de PAG a souvent été évasive et condescendante, soulignant à répétition qu’il ne s’agit « que d’un OSBL et non d’une multinationale », comme si cela justifiait les mois de silence, les erreurs de gestion et le manque total de transparence dans leurs opérations.

PAG affirme que la facturation Sunrise est en cours, et que la récupération des stocks, tant chez Sunrise que chez les disquaires indépendants, se fera au cours de l’été ou de l’automne 2025, selon leurs disponibilités personnelles. Le trajet envisagé Gatineau, Lac-Saint-Jean, Rimouski serait effectué « à leurs frais », un argument présenté sur un ton dramatique qui vise à susciter l’empathie tout en détournant l’attention de leurs responsabilités envers les artistes et labels qui leur ont confié du matériel, des ressources et des droits de distribution.

En somme, PAG semble s’abriter derrière son statut d’organisme bénévole pour minimiser les conséquences d’une gestion déficiente, alors que les artistes concernés sont laissés dans l’incertitude : aucun suivi structuré, aucun inventaire précis, aucun échéancier fiable, et aucune garantie formelle quant à la restitution des biens ou des paiements restants.

Nous espérons sincèrement que cette situation se résoudra dans le respect des engagements pris. La suite dépend désormais uniquement de l’intégrité et du professionnalisme de Dany Marchand.

Today, June 1st, 2025, marks the official deadline announced by PAG Production et Distribution on its page regarding the retrieval of materials left on consignment for distribution in retail locations across Quebec. In this context, several questions remain unanswered namely, why has this process taken so long, and why is it expected to continue for several more months?

We remain skeptical, though we sincerely hope that the commitments made will be honored and that the items owed to us will be properly returned. It is important to clarify that we have no intention of discrediting PAG, which served us well for many years until the staff changes two years ago, which unfortunately triggered the organization's decline.

PAG Distribution, a non-profit organization led by Dany Marchand and Élysa Laporte, announced its closure in a Facebook post in July 2024, although no tangible activity had been observed since 2023. A more formal statement followed on January 17, 2025, along with a vague, defensive, and somewhat self-pitying update on April 16 an attempt to downplay the seriousness of the situation rather than provide concrete solutions.

Despite the direct impact on over 100 bands and labels, PAG never took the initiative to contact artists or labels directly... not to inform them of the closure, nor to explain what steps needed to be taken. This complete lack of proactive communication amounts to serious negligence and has created widespread confusion. Many artists are still unaware of the June 1st, 2025 deadline, which was meant to determine whether they wish to retrieve their products or allow distribution through Sunrise Records until stock runs out.

In response to legitimate requests for clarification, PAG has often responded evasively and with a condescending tone repeatedly emphasizing that they are “just a non-profit, not a multinational,” as though this excused months of silence, poor management, chronic delays, and a total lack of transparency in their operations.

They now claim that Sunrise Records billing is underway, and that stock retrieval — from Sunrise and independent retailers — will take place during the summer or fall of 2025, depending on their personal availability. The planned route from Gatineau to Lac-Saint-Jean to Rimouski would be done “at their own expense,” a statement delivered in a dramatic tone meant to elicit sympathy while deflecting attention from the core issue: their responsibility to the artists and labels who entrusted them with valuable materials and distribution rights.

In short, PAG appears to be hiding behind its non-profit status to minimize the consequences of its poor management while affected bands are left in the dark, with no structured follow-up, no clear inventory, no concrete timeline, and no serious guarantee that the remaining products or payments will ever be returned.

We sincerely hope this situation reaches a proper resolution but that now depends entirely on the integrity and professionalism of Dany Marchand.

Nous aimerions entrer en contact avec toutes les personnes qui se retrouvent dans la même situation que nous face à PAG Production et Distribution.

Depuis l’an dernier, nous attendons un compte rendu détaillé des ventes ainsi qu’une confirmation du nombre de CDs qui nous reviennent. À ce jour, nous n’avons reçu qu’une partie des CDs en stock, et aucun paiement depuis 2023.

Il est grand temps que cette histoire bouge.

Since last year, we’ve been waiting for a sales report and confirmation of how many CDs are owed to us. So far, we’ve only received a portion of the stored CDs, and we haven’t received any payment since 2023.
