It gets slow around here in the summer which is perfect. I also love to restore things seeing I no longer have a race unit this will have to work. Iv also never been happy with the paint quality on my resurfacer so I brought it up to my standard of liking. In the process though the travers inverter now has an error and the programming lost. Anyone know anything about these?

See last picture for reference Hope you can also read Chinese 🤦🏻‍♂️

Few little odd things on the go this past week. Composite Hemi intake manifold ported and throttle body matched to the intake inlet.

A set of new 440 Pw heads sold disassembled check spring heights pressures and guides clearances. Middle spring removed for break in on new flat tappet cam. Again can’t stress how nice the seat work is for entry level aluminum heads. They put Edlebrocks to shame in my opinion for the money.

Have a great and safe weekend guys!

A good friend sent this to me. Love the innovators that paved the road in the industry that weren’t afraid to try something. One thing that sticks out was self doubt. As real as it was back then it still holds true today. You are always your biggest and worst critic success make that fade away.

Subaru 2.2 turbo heads in for porting

This was the first big job with the new flow bench and it was a time consuming set up but it came out great. Picked up 22cfm on the intake, 287cfm @ .450” and 30cfm on the exhaust with no pipe 230 cfm @ .450”
It’s not about how much comes out but where.

This was done by just blending the seats and smoothing out transitions very little throat work. No port matching was done there’s more on the table but it will work nicely with most of the gains in the mid lift range. There’s about 12cfm left on the intake but this is what the budget allowed and had the valve job not already been done I would have gone after it. The exhaust work is note worthy a lot of work was done as you can see.

Have a Great and safe weekend guys.

Small block Shebby 383 short block I just finished up

This project belongs to a young man that started to build this with a customer turned friend whom sadly passed away this spring. Bob was one of the guys whom use to do my tig welding repairs for me. Thankfully I had the privilege and was able to visit with him this past winter before his passing I knew his time was short it was a great visit and alway looked forwards to our visits.

Bob truly loved sharing his passion of all things mechanical car and bikes and set out to help this young man learn to build his first engine. Unable to finish it himself after his passing Bobs son referred him to me and it was dropped off as a job initially.

As I processed what was happening It was only right that I offered to help pick where they left off and show him how to do it instead of charging him for my time. This is what Bob would have wanted, although some cost was incurred he learnt a lot, and I very much enjoyed our time together passing on what I know and helping him complete the short block. What Iv learnt and know was freely given to me it was a privilege to do this and see it through.

GM Sbc heads in for a quick go through for a pro charged river boat. Customer said make it so it will run…

Disassemble
Jet wash and vapour hone
Clean valves
Tried removing the sprayed aluminum off the quench pad but wouldn’t come off
Set up in resurfacer and started cutting
Removed 2.5cc off the chamber and most of it came out pleasantly surprised even myself.
Multi angle valve job
Retip
Final clean and reassemble

Have a Great and safe long weekend guys!

VW V8 Touareg 5 valve head in for a rebuild was throwing a misfire code on bank 2. Valves had excessive run out and leak down.

Disassemble
Jet wash
Found all guides worn so replaced with new
Hone to size
Multi angle valve job
Replaced all valves not cheap!
Resurfaced
Replaced guide seals
Final clean and assemble

Secound head off a Hond B18 came in for the same thing but the intake valves on number 3 took a hit and damaged the guides.

New guide were too long so I turned them down and tapered them then honed to size V***r honed the chambers multi angle valve job and resurfaced. Customer will assemble.

Have a Great weekend guys
