Dear Readers and Supporters, Gabriel speaking here. It is with a truly heavy heart that I write today to share a tragedy affecting someone very close to me: my cousin Karl, and his partner Éliane, who are currently living through what can only be described as a nightmare.
Some longtime followers of Anathema may remember Karl already. Him and I once operated together under the musical project LIM, and he composed several dark ambient and ritual pieces for Anathema’s earliest releases, including music featured in the first three issues of PILLARS. Some of these can still freely be heard here: anathemapublishing.bandcamp.com
Last Thursday evening, Éliane’s home was entirely destroyed in a violent fire. In only a few minutes, everything was gone.
The house itself is a total loss, alongside vehicles, personal belongings, beloved animals, and much of Éliane’s farming equipment, tools, seeds, and seedlings intended for this growing season. Anyone who knows Éliane knows how much heart and devotion she pours into her ecological farm, “Si c’pas ça la vie.” This was not merely a business, but a life patiently built over many years.
Thankfully, immediate support is being provided through the Red Cross, alongside friends, family, and neighbours. But the road ahead will be long and difficult.
And so today, I am not writing to announce a new title or launch another Kickstarter, but simply to ask, humbly, for help.
A fundraising campaign has been organized to help them slowly rebuild and recover. Every donation, share, and kind word truly matters.
We fully understand not everyone is in a position to contribute, nor should anyone feel obligated. But if you can help, even something as small as 5$ genuinely makes a difference.
Thank you deeply for taking the time to read this and consider helping.
