The Beautiful Game! Snagged this one Saturday evening (Dec 13 2025) at the ADSS soccer field during the Vancouver Island Soccer League's game between the Alberni Athletics Soccer Club Division 4 team and the visiting Sooke Sonics D4 of the Sooke Soccer Club.

Here's a bit of hockey action and a whole lotta toys! The annual teddy bear toss was held last night at the multiplex as the Alberni Valley Bulldogs hosted the Nanaimo Clippers. It wasn't until the second period before the toys starting coming over the boards. Nanaimo won in overtime 4 - 3. (Friday Nov 28 2025)

Friday night basketball. I took in the Rain Basketball Academy - Pacific Rim finals this past weekend (Nov 14, 2025). This is the third place game between the Guardians and Seawolves. Amazing basketball. They are all skilled players and you can tell they love it! I don't know what the score was or who won the game 'cause to me they are all winners.

A few images from soccer action at Bob Daily Stadium between the Alberni Athletics Soccer Club Division 4 and Juan De Fuca Wild hogs in Vancouver Island Soccer League action. Saturday, Nov 8, 2025

These were all shot on the Canon 5D M4 with a 300mm prime lens. It held up really well under the lights and many of these shots are cropped (like cropped a lot). I spent most of the game behind the north end goal. That allowed me to see how well the lens would hold at the opposite end of the field while seeing how close it would be at the north end. It was a but too tight at my end (I could had moved back for a better shot). Conclusion: Two cameras for field action and a third camera with a fisheye right behind the net. I'll be working on that in due time.

My light kit for tomorrow. It usually takes me several hours and a long checklist to determine what kit I will put together for a given shoot. This one is pretty standard with 5 strobes and 3 flash with an extra flash for backup. Pop not included.
