Tonight I made my first full Sunday night dinner for my family, from everything that I grew here on the farm. Minus the pie crust I cheated there 😉
Chicken was amazing the boys said, super juicy and so meaty! We have a half chicken left!
Roasted beets with balsamic and honey
Roasted potatoes and green beans.
Apple pie
Apple zucchini and chocolate chip zucchini bread
The kids dug into desert before I could get a picture
I also made and canned a bunch of apple sauce 😋

This morning i had my first loss 😢Luna was my americauna hen, she was curious, adventurous, and although she’d come close, didn’t like to be handled. She had a mind of her own and would wander off with no worries.
When I came to open the coop this morning I found her on the shelf, just sitting there. When I picked her up she didn’t struggle and I knew something was wrong, I brought her in and put her in a warm bath immediately inspecting her, her crop was full for the morning so I wrapped her in a towel and immediately started massaging her crop to deal with any impaction, she gasped, and then passed. 😭
All my animals are treated the same, I give my animals as much love an care as I do my own kids. So dealing with a loss is horrible, dealing with a loss that could have been prevented, even worse. I laid her amongst her flock, everyone came to say their goodbyes, and she will be burried under her favourite tree so she can be with the flock forever.

Lunch served straight from the garden!
Nothing better than enjoying the fruits of your labour. Fresh romaine, and radish for my lunch time salad, and some kale for the chickies.

These babes have taken a little longer to intergrate. I’ve been letting them out just as Phil is starting to go in for the night😉🤨 🐓
Yet they still run as far from the others as possible lol. Today within 10min of letting them out, (early) this happened 🥰. Hopefully the rest are as accepting as Honey 💕

This is the big one!!!! Literally! 🫢

Clara and Trixie
Clara and Trixie are Brahma’s.
They may look small now but these chickies will be the largest in my pack. He a can range between 9-12lbs and 26” tall 😳
They are a docile gentle breed who are cold hardy and lay large brown/tan eggs.
I can’t wait to see these ladies strutting around the yard. 😍
