Born between 1930 and 1946 places you in an exceptionally small group – just 1% of your generation remains today. Ranging in age from 77 to 93, your lifetime represents a singular period in human history.
Consider this:
You entered a world of difficulty. Your generation emerged from the Great Depression and witnessed a global war. You experienced rationing, collected scrap metal, and practiced resourcefulness – waste was avoided.
You recall home delivery of fresh milk. Life was less complex, focused on essential needs. Discipline was a consistent element from both parents and educators, with little tolerance for justifications.
Your imagination served as your entertainment. Without television, you engaged in outdoor play and constructed elaborate mental worlds based on radio broadcasts. Families gathered to listen to news and programs together.
Technology was rudimentary. Telephones were shared, calculations were manual, and newspapers were the main source of information. Thoughts were recorded on typewriters, not computers.
Your early years were stable. The post-WWII period ushered in a hopeful future – absent of terrorism, the internet, and discussions about global warming. It was a prosperous time marked by optimism, progress, and security.
You are the final generation to have lived when:
Black-and-white television was advanced technology.
Major roads were not yet freeways.
Shopping involved visits to central business districts.
Polio was a significant health threat.
While your parents dedicated themselves to rebuilding after the war, you matured in an environment of abundant opportunities. You flourished during an era of peace, advancement, and safety that the world may never again experience.
If you are beyond 77 years old, feel a sense of pride in having navigated these remarkable times. You are among the fortunate 1% who can truthfully say, "I lived through the best of times."

Go Visit Your Grandparents—You’ll Be Glad You Did

Go visit them.
Even if it’s just for an hour.
Even if they tell you, “Don’t worry about me.”
Even if you’re busy, tired, or don’t know what to say when you get there.

Go anyway.

Because to you, it might be just another visit—
but to them?
It’s everything.

It’s their entire week. It’s a story they’ll retell five times with a smile. It’s a reminder that they’re still important. Still remembered. Still loved.

They don’t always say it, but they notice the quiet. They notice who calls. Who comes. Who doesn’t.

They’re getting older. The house is quieter now. The days move slower. And the truth is— they won’t always be there.

And one day, you’ll wish you had gone. You’ll wish you sat longer. Listened more. Hugged tighter. Took the picture. Made the time.

So go.
While their arms still open for you.
While their voice still calls your name.
While they’re still here to love you in the only way they know how—softly, quietly, consistently.

Because the visits you make now?
They’ll stay with you
long after they’re gone.

Subject: Elderly Lady's Prayer

In church last Sunday, an elderly lady was saying a prayer.

"Dear Lord - The last few years have been very tough.

You have taken my favourite actor - Paul Newman;

My favourite actress - Elizabeth Taylor;

My favourite singer - Andy Williams;

My favourite author - Tom Clancy,

and my favourite comedian - Robin Williams.

Just wanted you to know that my favourite politician is Donald Trump.

‘Today I painted a new residents nails at work and as we were going over colors, she mentioned she wanted clear. The only thought that came to my mind was "CLEAR?! That's no fun." I asked her why she wanted clear and she said, "My hands are ugly, I don't want to draw attention to them." I then carefully responded with, "Your hands tell the story of your life. They tell the story of love, of care and adventure. These hands have touched and held things that most people can only wish to one day." And with that, she went with the color pink for her nails.

Sometimes what we are so insecure with, others find beauty in. 💖

A high school in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada, has an annual dance where students invite senior citizens from the community to the big event! Most of the seniors are from low-income housing units and the dance gives them a rare chance to get out and not be shut-in! Transportation is provided and students in the cooking class help prepare and serve the meals for the evening and the night includes performances. It's been a tradition for nearly 30 years! What a great idea! Thumbs UP to the school and students for treating these elderly to a night out and with respect!

The TRUTH is, that all of the “STUFF” here on earth we work SO hard to buy and accumulate..does NOT mean a thing. At the end of the day...people will be cleaning out our "STUFF", going thru our "STUFF", figuring out what to do with all of our "STUFF"....this "STUFF" we've accumulated in our life. The only thing of VALUE that remains are the MEMORIES and what we deposit into others. May we all learn to spend less time accumulating "STUFF" and spend way more time making MEMORIES.
