🏒 Generations of Portage Terriers history are taking centre ice at the Fort la Reine Museum!

A new exhibit brings together decades of memorabilia, championship keepsakes and team photographs dating back to the early 1900s. Among the highlights is the banner celebrating the Terriers’ 1973 Centennial Cup championship.

Whether you remember cheering from the stands or have only recently joined Terrier Nation, it’s a chance to explore the players, teams and unforgettable moments that helped shape hockey in Portage la Prairie.

After a warm and windy Friday, we’re heading into a cooler—but still pleasant—weekend across southern Manitoba.

Environment Canada is calling for a mix of sun and cloud Saturday, with temperatures reaching the low 20s. Sunday looks similar, although we could see a few more clouds and a slightly cooler afternoon.

The cooler weather won’t last long. Temperatures begin climbing again Monday, with the real warm-up arriving Tuesday as daytime highs return to the upper 20s.

So, keep the light jacket nearby for those early mornings—but don’t put the summer clothes away just yet.

A voice trusted by generations of Canadians—and an inspiration to countless young broadcasters.

Lloyd Robertson, who anchored national newscasts for more than four decades, died Tuesday at the age of 92.

Among those remembering his influence is a former CFRY host, who reflects on Robertson’s calm delivery, credibility and the example he set for those beginning their own careers behind a microphone.

Robertson didn’t simply report history—he helped shape Canadian broadcasting.

Manitoba RCMP are urging everyone to slow down, stay alert and make safe choices following a troubling rise in fatal collisions.

Officers have responded to 43 fatal collisions resulting in 48 deaths so far in 2026. That is 23 per cent more deaths than at this point last year—and 34 per cent above the five-year average.

RCMP say impairment, speeding, distraction and a failure to use seatbelts or helmets continue to put lives at risk.

Whether you’re travelling by car, motorcycle or off-road vehicle, the message is simple: drive sober, put the phone away and make sure everyone gets home safely.

A brand-new weekend is here, and the weather is looking pretty cooperative across Portage and the Central Plains.

We’re expecting plenty of sunshine today with a high near 24. Sunday should bring hazy sunshine and a high around 22.

Cooler overnight temperatures will fall to around 10 to 12 degrees which is perfect for opening the windows and giving the air conditioner a well-earned weekend break!

Whatever is on your weekend calendar, it looks like Mother Nature is planning to play along.
