A very large snow pile at the intersection of Saskatchewan Avenue and 8th Street NW is currently blocking the entire northbound lane. Crews said it may be some time before they are able to reach and remove that pile due to the volume of snow and ongoing workload.

Snow-clearing crews are out in force across the city this morning as provincial and municipal operators work to clean up lingering snow from the past several weeks.

Motorists are being urged to exercise caution on area roads, as a variety of heavy equipment from plows to loaders, move up and down Saskatchewan Avenue and other main arteries. Snow piles remain in traffic lanes, and some residential streets are only partly cleared, officials said.

Drivers are being advised to remain alert for snowplows, loaders, and haul trucks, as well as snow piles that may temporarily narrow traffic lanes or leave sections only partially cleared.

Bulk waste pick up begins today and runs until January 5th. Here are some tips for you to remember when putting out your items.

-Put bulky items out by 7 a.m. on your scheduled garbage day during the pick-up week.

-Ensure you stick within the 100 lb limit per item

-Keep bulk items separate from carts and clearly visible at the curb.

-Consider donating gently used items before setting them out so as to help save time and effort on behalf of the crews and help a good cause while you're at it.

-Check the City’s collection calendar or the “MWM Environmental” app for reminders and schedule info.
