Mike & Kishon Talk Comics

Mike & Kishon Talk Comics This is the page for the web-series Mike & Kishon Talk Comics. Thus was the day MIKE & KISHON TALK COMICS was born.

Long after they met at a past Northern Fancon event, two friends, Mike Meier, a former radio personality at 93.1 CFIS FM (who left the radio station & the radio business itself...permanently on August 28th, 2019 after doing PSA’s advertisements & promos, plus doing his own show MIKE’S RETRO BLOCK since 2008) now an already established small home based businessman (thanks to the buy & sell Facebook

groups he recently started) & self published comic book artist, who achieved moderate local success with the first issue of his company MEIER COMICS’ launch title BRAD HAWKE: SUPER CHAMPION ON CAMPUS & Kishon Perry, a cosplayer & huge fan of comic books came up with the idea of doing a web series (and maybe a possible radio program, podcast, convention panel, & continue on) where they could review all of their favourite comic books published by companies such as Marvel, Image, DC, Valiant (90’s era to the present), Dark Horse, Dynamite Entertainment & a few other lesser known companies, one of which being Malibu Comics & it’s Ultraverse line of characters. This page will feature all of the episodes of this brand new comic book review series, as Kishon (series co-creator) sees both himself & Mike as Prince George, BC’s version of Jay & Silent Bob.

When I was shopping at Collectoverse Toys PG the other day, I stumbled across this figure, which I just had to have in my collection. It is none other than Azrael as Batman... Knightfall Batman, to be exact. I have been a fan of Knightfall Batman or Bat-Azrael ever since I read the trade paperback Batman Knightfall volume 2, which I borrowed from the Library many years ago. The altered version of the Dark Knight's traditional uniform looks totally awesome. If you grew up in the 90s like I did & were a fan of the Batman comics from that decade, you would definitely dig the new version of this iconic, yet legendary character. You would think he was the coolest. When I was a kid & living in Kamloops, British Columbia, when the Batman Knightfall/Knightquest/Knight's End saga was still new, some of my friends, whom I went to elementary school with (John Tod Elementary to be exact) were huge fans of Bat-Azrael & the storylines he appeared in. As soon as I found & purchased the Legends of Batman Knightquest Batman figure at either Zellers or Walmart, it sparked my interest in wanting to read the comics in question & learn more about Bat-Azrael. To put it simply...I got hooked.

Hi comic book fans & collectors
Sorry for not being on Facebook as often as I would like.

I'm just writing to let you know that after giving it some thought over the course of the last few weeks, over the course of August & the first few weeks of September, I will be making episodes of Mike & Kishon Talk Comics & then releasing them on DVD so that you all can see the show after so long. Plans to start making the show will begin later this month.

Plans are in the works to purchase CD/DVD burning software for my computer (as I currently have a portable DVD/CD burner plugged into it). When I will be able to do it has yet to be determined. I will keep you in the know as soon as I'm able to do so.

With that being said, here are some photos of some of the trade paperback collections I own of DC's Justice League (The New 52 era). I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.

Who remembers watching the tv show The Anti-Gravity Room on YTV? That was a show that I remember watching quite a bit of back in 1997. It was such an awesome show. Hosted by PJ Phresh Phil, they featured segments about new comic books being released from imprints such as Image, DC, Marvel, Dark Horse & a few others. I would have given anything to watch that show once again in the present day era. It helped to a significant degree fuel my constantly growing interest in comic books. It was such a huge part of my childhood & will remain that way for a very long time. 😁

As you all are well aware of, Grifter (Cole Cash), along with many other Wildstorm characters are currently a part of the DC Universe. He has appeared in some of the newer comics DC published (do correct me if that info is incorrect. I didn't get a chance to research that info due to me being busy with other things as of recently) as well as appeared in an animated movie with Batman in the DC animated universe.

That's all well & good. I'm all for it, but I still have an appreciation for the original Wildstorm Universe (90s era when they were still part of the Image universe. The first Wildstorm title that helped launch that universe would be none other than the WildC.A.T.S. Covert Action Teams) as well as Grifter's earlier adventures on his own & with said team. That was where it was at for me.

Which version of Grifter did you like the best? The Image universe version or the DC Universe version? Please let me know in the comments below. I would be interested in wanting to hear from you.

For all you fans of local small press independent label comic books, I have some awesome news in addition to a couple of progress reports in regards to how I'm doing with BRAD HAWKE: Super Champion On Campus Issue 0. So far, I was able to complete page 4, along with a few other pages, plus the cover. I also stared on finishing up with penciling page 5 of the book & am currently finishing up with inking & detailing page 8. I still have a long way to go, but as soon as I complete the book & make 10 copies of it for my customers & subscribers at Papyrus printing, I will announce an official release date, as I have every intention of doing that after the book is officially finished/completed. NOT before.

As for any new comics I'm collecting, I don't have anything new just yet, but I will sometime very soon. I've just been very busy with trying to complete this comic book project I'm working on right now & do so in a different way here at MEIER COMICS/MEIER STUDIOS (namely not make deadlines as they cannot be met & are unreasonable, as well as announce the release dates of all of my books AFTER they've been officially finished/completed & copies have been made, as I already mentioned before).

How many of you comic book fans saw this commercial back in 1991. This was produced & directed by the legendary Spike Lee & featured the future creator of Extreme Studios & one of the original founders of Image Comics Rob Liefeld. It also showcases his work on Marvel's X-Force which he was working on at the time before he created Youngblood, Brigade & others for the back then new independent comic book imprint. Let me know what you think of this video. Ever since I first saw it, I got hooked on it. This advertisement is still my top favourite early 90s commercial of all time.

Check out some of the many new comic books I bought over at Northern Fancon, at a couple of vending booths I paid a visit to over the course of the event. A few new issues of DC's Darkstars, part one of the DC Universe crossover "Trinity" between L.E.G.I.O.N '93, Darkstars & Green Lantern, plus two Iron Man annual magazines from Marvel Comics which chronicles Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Avengers & Avengers West Coast's involvement in the storyline "The Terminus Factor" plus the Iron Man storyline "Subterranean Wars." (In those two storylines Machine Man, Jocasta & Ant-Man made guest appearances, along with Jim Rhodes, better known as War Machine). Let me know what you think of them.

After Fancon has come & gone next month, plans are going to be in the works to work on & produce the first episode of Mike and Kishon Talk Comics. That's right, I'm really looking forward to making the first episode, which I plan to do in a similar fashion to how podcasts are produced for YouTube. I'll be using OBS software to record the video chats I'll be having with Kishon, then as I edit the episode together, I'll be featuring clips of me showcasing the comic books we will be covering & talking about on the show. I'm not sure how I'm going to be able to pull this off, but I as soon as I get the chance to do so, as in make time away from my busy schedule working on my comic books in order to do just that, I'll give it a go & see how it all turns out.

Savage Dragon (3 issue miniseries)
Bloodstrike

I really wish I had something new to share with you this week, but I unfortunately don't, because I've been incredibly busy with trying to complete Brad Hawke Issue 0 & get it done in time for this year's Northern Fancon. I hope to have some new stuff ready to share with you in the weeks to come.

I have some great news! I will be appearing at Northern Fancon 2022 with issue 0 of Brad Hawke: Super Champion On Campus. I'm really looking forward to being there again, so if anyone wants to get a copy of the book, please stop by my vending booth in Artist Alley. I will be there for all three days👍😁 so don't miss your chance to own issue 0 of Brad Hawke. It's the book that spent almost an entire year & a half in the making which will set in motion the events for Brad Hawke Issue 1.
