It is an odd feeling. "Such a celebration, it is - life, my life." I tell myself while I look at this wedding I am attending right now. The only thing to be compromised here is the food; I wish they had it a tad bit spicier. My mother is in a blue dress, but not one of those fancy looking ones.

Wassssaaaap people, it's about time I introduce myself and pretend that I'm totally not super late about this. I'm Garry, the Editor-in-Chief for the Students' Union and your magazine guy overlooking the Confluence. It's been about 4 months since I've been appointed the Editor-in-Chief but I wanted to do this post once I had a full team working alongside me. Their introductions would be coming soon after but I'll babble about myself for now.

I essentially live inside the Students' Union office when I'm not in class or working off campus, so it's pretty hard to miss me. I do monthly editions of the magazine which include interviews of students and/or faculty members. I've been reasonably successful with bringing issues up and ensuring everyone's voice is heard on campus. Besides that, I also perform office duties alongside Student Representatives.

My journey in the Students' Union has been a great learning experience. From getting in trouble for certain articles to getting praised for most, ahem ahem, I've been steadily getting better. Both inside the office and outside, I could easily be told as a welcoming and hyper extroverted person. There's nothing I enjoy more than talking to people so just come and say hi. Hoping to meet y'all and answer any questions you might have about the Editorial Committee and the Confluence.

"Fairness For International Students is crucial now more than ever; however, how long would it take for the decision makers to understand?"

Emily Carr University recently announced a 30% increase for incoming international students. Will this drastic increase be seen elsewhere in British Columbia?

As international students at Emily Carr struggle with the intense hike in tuition, many others want a statement from their institution about this partially existing between domestic and international students.

Not only is AI taking over our walmarts, but the next big artist may just be a robot. Don’t believe me? In 2021, an art piece created by an AI program came first place in the 2021 Colorado State Fair. After winning the $300 first place prize, Jason M. Allen (AKA the “artist”), stated that ““Art is dead, dude. It’s over. A.I. won. Humans lost.”.

As if artists didn't have it hard already, the big scary robot army is targeting the art world too.

"Just tell me what I should do with tuition being increased each year? It is a feeling which keeps surfacing alongside pain."

Take a look at this article written by our very own Garry Rajput, talking about what it is like to be an international student with ever increasing tuition fees.

“…do they actually expect me to do that? “ I am an international student; it is a reality that I’m exposed to every time I have to look at my bank account, being well aware of the fact that paying a lot more than domestic students is part of our job as a student; however, it’s […]

"Sometimes it’s a necessity to say no to a couple of things for good. It’s okay to say no if it makes you uncomfortable, if saying yes is going to torture your mental status or if you had a bad day." Read this piece written by our very own Divya Lalan!
