Hailing from Québec City, Poignard is a ferocious metal-punk duo that channels the grit of street-level rock’n’roll with the violence and urgency of classic underground metal. Formed around the partnership of vocalist/multi-instrumentalist Max BT and drummer Nikola D, the band delivers hard-hitting songs that feel like a blade thrust: raw, direct, and in your face.

Their sound blends razor-sharp riffs, d-beat, and a nihilistic rock attitude, drawing from the grimiest corners of metal and punk. Poignard’s music is built on themes of conflict, decay, and existential dread, as well as stories of war, death, fear, and societal collapse delivered with uncompromising intensity.

In 2025 the band began carving its mark in the underground with their EP Creuser sa tombe, a barrage of blistering tracks recorded at Studio Vermine that showcased their stripped-down but lethal approach to song writing.

Now Poignard returns with their most savage statement yet. Their debut album Riposte, out the 24th of April via From the Urn Records, is a declaration of resistance, an explosive collection of songs built on motörcharged riffs, relentless drumming, and the band’s trademark scorched-earth energy. If their earlier release was a warning, Riposte is the counterattack: a soundtrack for confrontation, rebellion, and survival in a collapsing world.

With Riposte, Poignard sharpen their blade and strike harder than ever, proving that from the underground of Québec City comes a band ready to fight back, loud and merciless.
