When Stanislav of KRANG contacted me last January to organize a Canadian tour, I accepted without hesitation. But I wondered if I would be able to deliver. Yes, I had already organized shows with excellent local and international bands over the past two years, but only in the province of Quebec. Those who know me know that once I set my mind to something, nothing can stop me if I believe in it. Sometimes, this determination can also work against me. I've been criticized for wanting too much and doing too much, which can be intimidating and tiresome for those who don't push forward at the same pace as me. I admit it. But if I approach my projects with such intensity, it's never to make myself look better, take up all the space, or crush anyone along the way. The end result of a project is never as important to me as the journey itself and, above all, the kind-hearted people we meet along the way. Without them, we are nothing.
First, I want to thank Stanislav, who trusted me from the beginning. He is one of the most dedicated, professional, and kind people I have ever worked with in my life. If all bands had a Stan in their band, they would go far. I also want to thank the other three guys in the band—Dan, Henny and Gabo—for whom I have immense respect, both as musicians and as human beings. The discussions and moments spent with you four will remain engraved in my memory. I am honored to now count you among my friends for life, and I look forward to seeing you again in the near future. Have a safe trip home and get some rest, you deserve it!
I was fortunate to have the support of people who helped me on this adventure. Without them, none of this would have been possible. So thank you to Morgan Farrell (The Corps), Matt Earle (AF Entertainment), Kayly and Aaron (The Effie Arts Collective), Keith Aucoin (Moments Fest Siksika), Gerry Royale (Banff Punk Night), Vince Geiger (StepKid Events), Clay Cott (Threadbare Productions), David Gravel (CG Productions), Andy (Rock cafe le Stage), Simon Gaudry and his entire team (Envol et Macadam), Jay Epinat and his entire team (Music 4 Cancer), as well as Cynthia and Bruno (Thousand Islands Records).
A special thanks also to those who contributed directly to the success of the tour: Jawsh McTrash (Trashed Ambulance) and Nick Kouremenos (King Thief) – two incredible bands made up of inspiring people with whom I had great conversations and forged bonds. Thanks also to the guys from Dead Alright, whom I love and who put on a great show in Trois-Rivières. A big thank you to Jeff Seeley (Brain Fog) and Acey Lonsberry (66Aces), two cool dudes who are passionate and have a lot of heart. Go check out their projects, they're excellent.
I also want to highlight the talent and support of the bands who agreed to join the tour: Brain Fog, Duane Regretzky, Regal Foul, Trashed Ambulance, Driveway Legends, 66aces, Lost Planet Airmen, King Thief, Venosta and Dead Alright.
Thanks to everyone who came to the shows, bought merch, and supported the project. It's much appreciated. Thanks also to the media: My friend Éric Bed (Prescription Punk Rock (PPR)) and my friend Mélodie Martel, who coordinated the four interviews for Krang at M4C (The Rockman Power Hour, Moshpit Punk Show, Le Bad Crew and Du bruit à mes oreilles).
I now have one last show next Saturday, the 20th, with my buddies from Chaser and The Whitewashers at the Wick Station. Then it will be time for a well-deserved rest and a long break from organizing shows. I had already expressed my intention to call it quits, but some opportunities came up a few weeks ago, so I'm keeping the door open and working on this project for next year. If all the pieces fall into place as they should, I'll let you know when the time is right.
Take care all and keep it real !
