In an original research article, Viktoria Stanova and colleagues from the Institut universitaire de cardiologie et de pneumologie de Québec – Université Laval (Québec, Canada) compare the hemodynamic performance of two mitral bioprosthetic valve models using a cardiac mock flow system.

Their in vitro findings show that the bovine bioprosthetic valve demonstrates superior hemodynamics and results in less prosthesis–patient mismatch compared to the porcine valve.
