โ›บ My first backpacking trip of the year took me to the stunning Twin Lakes campground. We did the Arnica Lake route. This was also my first time backpacking in June and I'm not sure if I'd do it again that early ๐Ÿ˜… it was quite cold but a cute 1 nighter for 3 of my first time backpacking friends. We set up camp on a gloomy Friday and headed to lower twin lake as a sunset hike. If you are hiking this as a day hike, I highly recommend going all the way to lower twin, it's more impressive than the upper lake. This is a connecting campground that will take you to whistling pass, Gibbon pass etc as a multiday adventure. I'm already counting down until my next backcountry adventure. ๐Ÿ•๏ธ๐Ÿ”๏ธ

๐ŸŒ„ Spoiler.... We missed the actual sunrise. We underestimated the amount of time it would take to arrive at the trailhead. But we did catch peak golden hour beauty. As the first golden light spills across the peaks, the surrounding mountains glow with incredible colors, making the early morning hike completely worth it. With beautiful early season wildflowers and breathtaking 360-degree views from the summit, it's one of the most rewarding sunrise adventures near Calgary.

โšก๏ธ I DIDNโ€™T EXPECT THIS ON PAGET PEAKโ€ฆ

What started as an incredible hike in the Canadian Rockies quickly turned into an experience Iโ€™ll never forget. A storm rolled in, lightning struck nearby, and suddenly getting off the exposed ridge became our top priority.

The mountains are beautiful, but they demand respect. ๐Ÿ”๏ธโšก๏ธ Conditions can change in minutes, and this experience was a powerful reminder to always take weather seriously.

Paget Peak โ€” unforgettable for more reasons than one. ๐Ÿค
