Doinik Ekattorer Chetana: A New Chapter in Independent Journalism
North America (Canada), February 20, 2025 – A powerful new voice in journalism, Doinik Ekattorer Chetana, has officially launched, bringing the spirit of Bangladesh’s Liberation War to the forefront of contemporary media. This virtual daily newspaper, published in Bengali from North America, is dedicated to delivering bold, truthful, and insightful journalism to a global Bengali-speaking audience.
Building upon a strong legacy, Doinik Ekattorer Chetana traces its roots to Samajkantha, a mid-week weekly that emerged in 1982. However, its fearless reporting led to its forced shutdown by the then-military government of Bangladesh. Undeterred, the publication revived itself in 2003 as Samajkantha News, publishing virtually from Canada. Now, in its latest evolution, it has rebranded as Doinik Ekattorer Chetana, reaffirming its commitment to upholding democratic values and the ethos of Bangladesh’s Liberation War.
“Our mission is to be the voice of the people, especially for the Bangladeshi diaspora and those committed to justice, democracy, and human rights,” said the editorial team. “Doinik Ekattorer Chetana will continue to stand for truth, press freedom, and independent journalism.”
With a broad readership spanning Bangladesh and the global diaspora, the newspaper offers in-depth analysis, investigative reporting, and coverage of socio-political issues, reinforcing the principles of free expression and accountability.
