Due to current weather conditions and precipitation, Sturgeon County’s Fire Restriction is downgraded to a Fire Advisory, as of June 2 at 9:00 a.m.

The following activities are allowed with caution:
• Yard and garden debris fires (fire permit required)
• Recreational backyard firepits
• Propane and natural gas-powered appliances
• Charcoal BBQs

Residents should use caution when engaging in activities that could provide an unintended ignition source, such as welding, grinding and OHV/ATV use. OHV/ATV operators are encouraged to check for debris buildup (grass/muskeg) on hot exhaust components and to carry a fire extinguisher on every ride.

Refer to Alberta FireSmart www.firesmartalberta.ca for useful information on how to reduce the risk of wildfires to your home and property.

Unfortunately, the Thorhild Swimming Pool is temporarily closed due to mechanical issues. We understand this may be disappointing and apologize for the inconvenience.

⚠️ Rainfall Warning. Heavy rain is expected to begin tonight (May 30) and continue through to Wed morning with amounts of 50-100mm. Crews are monitoring the roads. The County is always prepared for changing weather conditions. Smoky Lake RCMP is advising to be on the look out for a white Honda SUV, with 2 non white males in the area south of Bellis. They are attempting to break into rural properties.

Unfortunately, with the recent stretch of cold temperatures, rain, and unpredictable weather, we have made the decision to push back our pool opening date. While we were excited to welcome everyone back soon, the weather has made it difficult to safely prepare the pool and outdoor area for the season.🥶

We know many of you have been looking forward to opening day just as much as we have, and we truly appreciate your patience and understanding while we wait for warmer, sunnier days to arrive. Our team is ready and excited to get everything up and running as soon as the weather cooperates. ☀️

We’re hopeful that once the sun starts shining and temperatures improve, we’ll be able to officially kick off the pool season and welcome everyone back for another amazing summer filled with swimming, laughter, and fun. Stay tuned here for updates on the official start date!😁😎
