Today we are happy to release “Tio Juanito’s” EP by the !!
After 15 years of being a band, it comes more and more clear that the best part of being in a band is the family it creates, and how these people teach us, inspire us, and shape our lives.
The Andino Suns wouldn’t be what it is today if not for a place for us to hangout and jam (a.k.a. party) over all these years. Since the band’s inception, we have always been welcomed wholeheartedly into the house of Juan and Ana Palma. Anyone who’s ever been in a band knows that it can be tricky to locate a jam spot, but once you do, it can become something of a sacred place.
The immensity of the gift we had been given over the years has recently become acutely more apparent as Juan continues to fight an ongoing battle against cancer. With this in mind, “Tio Juanito’s” is a tribute to not only our jam spot, but the spirit of lovingkindness, acceptance, and warmth extended to us by the man who always “Greets us with a smile…” Tio Juanito never complains about us being too loud, or staying too late. He is always just happy to hear his boys playing music together. We hope that you can hear the joy in the music as we express our love for Tio Juanito, and all the good times we’ve had together.
There are 3 other songs on the EP — “Let it Flow” is a cumbia about pushing fear aside and living a life you know you’re capable of; “Changes” is a darker andino-rock song about the struggles in facing uncertainty in life; “Magic Lady” is a trance-y song dedicated to the wisdom and guidance life presents itself once we let our ego step aside.
The album was made by the help of audio engineers and long time friends and ; videographer Namsang Limbu . Video edit and project producer
Special thanks to the legend .dan.art for completely understanding the assignment and painting an original 3’ by 3’ painting for the cover, capturing the sentiment of the record beautifully. The original will hang on the walls of Tio Juanito’s. Please check out Dan’s art pages for more fantastic work.
Gracias, disfruta de todas!!
