Virtual Reality for real-world jobs: The Regina Work Prep Line Cook Experience is here – a project we were thrilled to develop!

To effectively assist job seekers in reaching their employment goals, we collaborated with the client to develop engaging VR workplace experiences. A particularly impactful module was the line cook simulation, designed to provide a comprehensive and practical understanding of the profession. Users gained valuable insights by completing interactive tasks such as food preparation, cooking a burger, and mastering banquet plating techniques.

Beyond training, the platform equips employers with insightful analytics, enabling them to gain a broader perspective on team needs and candidate abilities. Our immersive simulations proactively identify skill gaps, allowing us to provide tailored recommendations for development, benefiting both individual employees and the organization as a whole.

We're excited to showcase our gamified training and interactive simulation for the CFAA (Canadian Fire Alarm Association) project.

This virtual gamified simulator allows users to practice and prepare for the Practical Exam to become a CFAA Registered Fire Alarm Technician. Our gamified simulator challenges you to perform a complete Verification Inspection of a 4-story building with a conventional fire alarm system. You'll test every device, select the correct tools, pinpoint five randomly generated faults, and meticulously document your findings in an inspection report. Receive detailed feedback and expert tips at the end of your session, empowering you to refine your skills. This immersive simulation not only deepens your understanding of essential practices but also significantly reduces the risk and cost of real-world field damage.

We are excited to announce the release of our virtual reality Meal Assistance Training as part of the Brantwood Community Services project.

We developed a training module and refresher course on assisting residents with their meals. The goal was to provide an experience that gives the user feedback on anything they may have missed and can help keep their skills sharp. Using virtual reality for training is very beneficial for both employers and workers, as real-life scenarios can be re-created in a both a safe space and a cost-effective manner. It also provides employers with insightful analytics that give them the bigger picture on the needs of their teams and the abilities of those they are looking to hire. By training workers through immersive simulations, we can identify deficiencies and provide recommendations for areas of improvement, both on the individual level and also at a company level.

We are excited to share a look into our virtual reality de-escalation training.

VR training has evolved significantly in recent years, but with the latest advancements in AI and machine learning, we can now offer even more powerful and dynamic training experiences. Virtual reality, enhanced by AI, is an exceptional tool for preparing staff to handle a wide range of de-escalation scenarios, providing real-time feedback and adaptive learning to improve communication and conflict resolution skills.

It can focus on developing communication skills to manage tense interactions with distressed or upset customers. Employees will engage with conversational scenarios, practicing techniques for calming individuals and resolving conflicts. It can include empathy, HEAT, or even sales training; all driven by AI interactions that allow for employees to improve their expertise in a gradual skill building environment. Research from a study done on police de-escalation training, demonstrates that de-escalation training can have a significant impact: reducing use-of-force incidents by 28%, decreasing citizen injuries by 26%, and lowering officer injuries by 36%. These results highlight how such training fosters a safer environment for everyone involved. This hands-on approach instilled a sense of empowerment, as staff witnessed the impact of their actions within the virtual environment.

We are excited to announce the release of the virtual reality Recycling Training as part of the SALT project “Protectors of Our Land Phase 2” delivered in 3 different languages.

The first phase of the virtual reality project went over so well, that we developed and expanded the simulation with tasks to educate the pre-teen age group about the significance of recycling. This immersive experience provided students in grades 4-7 with more interactive overviews of how they can contribute to keeping the planet clean in an interactive way.

This hands-on approach instilled a sense of empowerment, as students witnessed the impact of their actions within the virtual environment. Additionally, the application provided educators with a dynamic tool to spark meaningful discussions and create a deeper understanding of environmental issues.

Considering the holidays and the magic of the season, especially for kids we wanted to showcase a throwback to a fun interactive project we worked on for the Doowett Kids TV Show.

This was a web and mobile interactive app that allows children to compose a duet, but in this case musical notes are replaced by musical actions performed by the cast. Kids arrange musical actions performed by Doowett and his friends. This app is a great way to introduce children to the idea of how songs are written. By stringing these actions together, the user has built an original composition they can then playback and even save to their tablet or computer!

HAPPY HOLIDAYS from MELCHER STUDIOS. May you find your inner child this holiday season!

We are excited to showcase another side training and interactive information as part of the Gowan project.

This was a web and mobile interactive 3D tool that was used for demonstrating and learning as well. We developed this simulation to help showcase the complexities of a new herbicide in the agricultural sector. The goal was to provide an experience that informs and educates the end users knowledge on the herbicides use in their environment. By providing simulations this way, we can demonstrate and improve the users overall understanding of the product and provide recommendations for their needs and use cases. Teaching this way also greatly reduces the costs associated with potential damage in the field.

We are excited to showcase a different side of virtual reality training as part of the Measurand project.

Virtual reality can be a powerful tool for procedural training and simulation learning as well. We developed this tool simulation to help showcase the intricacies of each tool. The goal was to provide an experience that trains and the end users knowledge on the procedural side necessary for how the tools looks, sizing, operating and overall use in their environment. By training workers through immersive simulations and virtual reality this way, we can identify deficiencies in the use of the tools and provide recommendations for virtual hands-on improvement, not to mention some of these tools are very sensitive and costly. By training this way, it greatly reduces the costs associated with potential damage in the field.

We were excited to share virtual reality experiences with grades 2, 4 and 5 at a local elementary school in Regina at the end of the school year.

The students got to try their hand at 2 different experiences: Learning about Recycling (a project we developed for our client SALT) and Experimentation for Youth (a project aimed at first time VR goers). The kids loved it and really showcased how this technology can be instrumental for all ages, demographics and locations.
