Happy to work with a group of amazing high school volunteers to help clear fallen leaves along the curbsides for our local seniors.

Keeping our streets clean and safe before the snow arrives helps prevent clogged drains. It’s one small way we can look out for one another.

If you know any seniors in my ward who need a hand with leaf cleanup, let me know. We’ll try to organize another one soon 👍🏻😀

On behalf of Ward 6 residents, I extend our deepest condolences following the tragic incident at First Roots Early Education Academy, located at 11384 Yonge Street, at Nottingham Drive, in Richmond Hill. It’s being reported that a car driven by a man in his 70s drove through a window of the facility adjacent to the parking lot. An 18-month-old toddler has tragically died, six other children are injured, along with three adult staff members.

We are heartbroken over this loss, and our thoughts are with the child who remains in critical condition, the injured children and staff, and their families. We thank York Regional Police, firefighters, paramedics, and hospital staff for their swift response. Ward 6 residents stand united in grief and support for all those affected by this tragedy.

The Province of Ontario is transitioning the blue box program to a new model that makes producers of recyclable materials responsible for their collection and processing instead of municipalities.

Starting January 1, 2026, residential recycling in Richmond Hill will be managed by Circular Materials (CM), a non-profit organization that represents producers. CM has contracted Miller Waste to collect your blue box recycling and manage customer service inquiries. You will continue to receive uninterrupted recycling collection service on your regular collection day.

Thank you to all the neighbors and community members who joined the in-person and virtual community workshops on the future development of the EBC/Hwy 7/404 area. We had a great turnout with both committee rooms fully packed.

There are three proposed options for the future development now open for consideration. I encourage you to complete the online survey and share your feedback before Wednesday, August 27. Your voice truly matters in shaping the future of this subject land.

Share your thoughts at a community workshop on the future development near East Beaver Creek and Hwy 7

Virtual Community Workshop Monday, August 18, 6:30pm - 8:30pm

In-Person Community Workshop
Wednesday, August 20, 6:30pm - 8:30pm
Richmond Hill Municipal Offices
225 East Beaver Creek Rd (Floor 1, Committee Rooms 1 and 2)

Your participation will inform the development of the East Beaver Creek Secondary Plan, which includes policies on land use, height, density, transportation network, parks and more. At the workshop, we will share ideas on the potential design concepts.

There will be:
* a presentation on the development of the plan;
* discussion on the vision and guiding principles for the area; and
* discussion on the draft land-use and design options.

The new East Beaver Creek Secondary Plan will help turn the area into a vibrant, mixed-use local centre, where people can live, work, play, relax and connect.

Your feedback helps us to develop draft policies to define and grow our city. Let’s plan the future of the area together.
