Many of you have followed my journey for years, some for decades, so you know how long I’ve been navigating the shadow of the youth justice system. In June, when I read about the recent deaths under Batshaw’s protection, specifically another young girl dying in the unit I was once locked in, something inside me broke. The silence I’ve kept since opting out of the Lindsay v. Quebec class action lawsuit in 2023 broke.
This is my personal account of institutional extraction, professional erasure, contextual manipulation, and the persistent machinery of the status quo.
If you believe in my work, I ask you to see me fully here. I am a complex woman with a dialectical mind: I can simultaneously recognize the historical significance of the Lindsay v. Quebec lawsuit while standing firm in my conviction to want absolutely nothing to do with it.
