Dan Briggs: The Blue Nowhere, Jamie King, InsideOut Music, and the Vocabulary of Reaction

Here's my interview with Dan Briggs - bass/keys player for Between The Buried And Me - about their new album The Blue Nowhere, out September 12th on Inside Out Music

We got into the creative process, the band’s history with Jamie King and how small ideas can grow into big moments on a BTBAM record.

Dan also shared thoughts on joining InsideOut Music and seeing a label as a true curator, memories of touring with The End (Relapse Records), and building his vocabulary of reaction.

I got to sit down, live in studio at Local 107.3fm, to talk with Brynn and Emily — longtime friends and collaborators — about their one-woman dark comedy, THE PRICK

It just wrapped at the Fundy Fringe Festival and is headed next to the Halifax Fringe Festival

We chat about the joy of making weird theatre with people you trust, the strange and beautiful life of a cactus metaphor, what it takes to direct a solo show, and how it feels to perform something vulnerable and a little absurd in front of a live audience.

We also talk about pop culture puns, swearing in serious moments, forgetting your lines mid-show, and why sometimes the funniest moments aren’t written — they just sneak in when the tension breaks.

If you’ve ever talked to your houseplants, or found meaning in something that wasn’t supposed to have any, this one’s for you.

From Sussex Middle School to the United Nations.

In this episode, I catch up with my old friend Kurt Goddard, former co-founder of our grade seven tech company Intech and now disability rights advocate with Inclusion Canada

We talk about his work with the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, the difference between legal and supported decision-making, and the very real impacts of ableism in everyday life.

We also get into AI, the Devon Deer Run Club, figure skating, and how a broken ankle may have inspired a paramedic’s career.

Had a blast talking with Jackie and Nathania from Affair of Honor live on-air at Local 107.3fm about their stage show Multi - Vs — presenting at this year's Fundy Fringe Festival

We get into:
– The chaotic joy of fight-based theatre
– Writing and building an entire show in 30 days
– Video games, doomscrolling, and emotional storytelling
– Stage combat, safety, and why your fight should always mean something
– Creating space for women and racialized performers in action-heavy theatre

They also break down how they train actors, balance high emotion with high-impact fights, and find connection through stories — even in a world full of screens.

If you’ve ever wished your theatre had more brawls, boss battles, and heart, this one’s for you.

Catch the show at the Halifax Fringe Festival from August 27th to September 7th

The Naked Mennonite: LIVE runs August 19–26 at the Fundy Fringe Festival in Saint John, NB. Details and tickets at fundyfringefestival.com

I sat down with Alan Fehr, creator of The Naked Mennonite—a provocative one-person show that mixes gay burlesque, Mennonite history, and a personal journey. We talk about how the show evolved from comedy into something much more emotionally vulnerable, and how performance can be a way to heal, connect, and challenge assumptions.

Alan also shares what it’s like to perform with a Bible in hand, how different audiences react, and why Mennonite identity is more complex than most people realize.

On today's episode, I sit down with Mark McColgan, crew chief of Saint John Trail Running, to talk about how he went from hating running to becoming a key figure in one of the most welcoming, fast-growing trail scenes in Atlantic Canada.

We get into what makes trail running different, how to build a community that keeps people coming back, and the stories behind races like Looney Loops, Bootstrap Boogie, and more. Mark also shares safety tips, gear advice, and why nobody should worry about being last.
