🎉 Horizon’s first baby of 2026 has arrived!

We’re thrilled to welcome Caldon, born at 12:02 a.m. on January 1 at Horizon’s The Moncton Hospital.

Please join us in celebrating this special arrival and wishing the family a very Happy New Year! 💙

Stay tuned as we share the first babies born at some of our other hospitals over the coming days.

Doing a pre-Christmas clear-out? Remember to recycle your old batteries and electronics safely! There are lots of locations that take old batteries and used electronics, use the Waste Wizard to find them. Just don't put them in your recycling box or the garbage. You may have noticed the Lights of Hope - the windows at St. Joseph's Hospital lit with candles and shining stars on their roof. Not only are they an uplifting twinkle throughout the Christmas season - they're a sign of the generosity of Saint Johners.

Every $250 donated lights a candle in a window.

Every $5,000 donated lights a star on the hospital rooftop.

These lights symbolize hope, community, and support for patients and their families.

Carolyn Wong from the St. Joseph's Hospital Foundation joins Dan & Nesta to tell us more about how this year's campaign will fund equipment for their Surgical Services department, a dental procedure cart and a mobile x-ray unit.

🎄 Extra Garbage Bags Allowed After the Holidays 🎄

The City of Saint John knows the holidays can mean extra waste. To help, we’re allowing two (2) extra garbage bags per household without a bag tag during the weeks after Christmas:
✅ Weekly pickup: Dec. 26 – Dec. 31
✅ Bi-weekly pickup: Dec. 26 – Jan. 7

Place your extra bags at the curb on your regular collection day.

♻️ Reduce holiday waste when possible:

Reuse gift bags
Choose recyclable wrapping paper
Compost food scraps
Recycle cardboard and plastic packaging

Styrofoam and flexible packaging can be recycled at Golden Mile Redemption, Pubs Redemption, and Fundy Redemption Centre.
