Ever wonder how Oktoberfest started back in 2023?

Well, Mayor Joe (Joe Preston - Mayor ST.Thomas Ontario) and Earl Taylor - Councillor (Then the chair of the St. Thomas Downtown Development Board) got together and put a plan together to celebrate the re-opening of Talbot St. after a year of construction by Cassidy Construction.

Together, with the help of the DDB Board, City Councillors, City of St. Thomas Staff (shout out to our former City Manager Sandra Datars Bere (now the city manager of London), Park's & Rec, St Thomas Proud, Small Business Enterprise Centre, Railway City Tourism), volunteers from the Optimist Club of St. Thomas and the Kinsmen Club of St. Thomas, as well as volunteering and discounts and promotion from businesses, organizations, musicians like Weiss Blau Band, Employment Services Elgin, Van Pelt's Business Solutions, Hustle & Heart 94.1 myFM, St Thomas Rent-All, Redemption Tent Events, Port Stanley Terminal Rail, Caps Off Brewing Co., Railway City Brewing Company, the St. Thomas & District Chamber of Commerce, and the German Canadian Club - Saxonia Hall Dancers - we all came together (and in spite of the weather...) put on one heck of a party!

It's beautiful to see all the hard work we put in then - grow to what we're going to see tomorrow!

Establish Media will once again be the photography sponsor, this year with help from Phil Bell of Shutter Studios, and I can't wait to capture all the wonderful moments and people that will be out to celebrate our city and our downtown on Saturday. See you then!

👀 Furst look at the Oktoberfest tent!

The St Thomas Police Service had their community open house today from 10am - 1pm. Attendees got to tour HQ, watch the K9 teams in action, and hear the St. Thomas Police Pipes & Drums Band. Juno, from their Chief's Ceremonial Unit, was also there to meet everyone.

I popped by right before everything kicked off to snap some pictures before we headed to the Horton Market. Louie and I stopped back in on our way home from the market and caught a couple more snaps.

It's great to see how connected our Police Services are to our community!

MP Andrew Lawton, MPP Rob Flack, and Earl Taylor - Councillor from the City of St. Thomas were also in attendance.
