South Island Sound is a music production studio and sound design facility located on the beautiful island of Saltspring Island BC. Kirk has been an engineer, educator, composer/arranger and producer for over 20 years and is both a studio and live musician. Kirk opened his first studio, Burntrax, in 1993, where he worked as engineer, producer and co-owner. Vancouver’s Sound Lounge Recording Studio

was started in 2006 until 2018. The studio moved to Saltspring Island and became South Island Sound. During his career he’s worked at studios such as Bullfrog Studio, UV Studios, Profile Studios, Burntrax Studio, Slack Studio, Venture Studios etc. He has worked with musicians such as Prevail & Mokka Only (Swollen Members), Dave Kershaw, Ash Sood & Vince Jones (members of Sarah McLachlan’s band) Luke Doucet (Solo artist, Sarah McLachlan, & Veal), Matthew Good & Gaye Delorme. Kirk's original music can be heard on TV shows such as Supernatural & Smallville, many movie soundtracks and at 19 NHL hockey team home games. As a multi instrumentalist (drums, guitar & bass) Kirk has played live with artists such as SWANK, Shiloh Lindsey, The Jardines, Eldorado, The Grange, The SharpKnives, The Vampire Bats The Wayward Hearts, Abel and The Crawl. He has played on hundreds of recordings over his 20+ year career as a musician.
