Cost: around $400 for all the beams.
1. Foam panels cut on a 45. This is tricky, you can also butt the joints.
2. Glue up & fold using the tape method. Line up seams, glue, and tape together. It was at the beginning of the video. I used a few glues. Construction adhesive worked the best.
3. Seams glue trim/baseboard to strengthen.
4. Fill the markings, corners, and line seams with spackle.
5. Sand and prime.
6. Paint! 1st coat of base coat “Fresco Cream” let dry
2nd coat brush on and use the wood graining tool to add wood grain details. Let dry.
7. Gel stain. Brush on, I used a foam brush. Wipe excess after 5-10 min. Continue until it’s the colour you want. I used the stain “chestnut” Let dry for 48hrs.
8. Use a matte poly top coat. ( I skipped this step) it’s a little shiny installed but can always change it later.
9. Install: blocking, caulked, and nailed on. ( test on a scrap foam and block to set the depth correctly)
That’s what I did. You don’t have to do the same method. Let me know if you have any other questions.
