Hey gang! Hope everyone's doing well out there!

No episode this week. Time got away from me and I'm fighting a bit of a headache today so I haven't had the chutzpah, the vim and vigour, the ... what the French call a certain "I don't know what" so I didn't want to write and record a subpar (to me at least) episode.

I'll be back next week but in the meantime, I thought I'd re-share one of my own, original, songs for you to give a spin.

This one was inspired by Tom in the way he could be so incredibly economical, both musically and in terms of arrangement. I wanted to write a short, punchy pop song and this is what I came up with!

This week is the first Petty 8ight installment for a couple of years! It was worth the wait though as my guest this week is the wonderful Paul Bradbury of Radio Pod Pod - A Queen Podcast, Real Human Beings, and American English.

We chatted about Paul's musical background, his recent original song collaborations, his Queen podcast, and then we dug into the eight tracks that I sent him to listen to, none of which he'd ever heard before!

This track comes out firing on all cylinders with those aggressively swept ascending notes. Yet again, we’re being treated to something that’s a million miles from anything we’ve heard before. Mike and Scott Thurston are in complete harmonic lockstep here and Tom tells Mike Mettler, “There are a lot of dual guitars on it, so Scott and Mike worked a long time on the double harmony parts. They rehearsed that a lot.”
