Thank you Eastend Historical Museum for sharing this story! We are lucky and thankful to have Karpan PhotoJourneys as regular contributors to the magazine. It takes a community of writers, photographers, designers, advertisers, loyal readers, and people and business willing to share their stories to keep a publication like this going. In a world where digital takes priority to tourism dollars, its stories like these that keep us energized and determined to keep telling Saskatchewan stories. Thank you to all that support local publishing!
Because the museum also hosts the Visitor Centre, we get some really great people stopping in — and often end up having the best conversations. A few days back, for example, we had a lovely couple from Calgary come through who were exploring the Cypress Hills because of the Spring 2026 issue of Prairies North Magazine.
They had the magazine with them and showed us the feature on “Backroads through the Cypress Hills.” They were following the route exactly as laid out — Ravenscrag, the Frenchman River Valley, Jones Peak, Middle Bench, Pine Cree, our Museum, and all those quiet prairie roads the article highlights.
They were absolutely loving the adventure and said the drive was one of the highlights of their trip. It’s always fun to see travellers discovering our corner of Saskatchewan through stories like that — and then heading out to experience it for themselves.
If you haven’t seen the Spring 2026 issue yet, it’s a beautiful one and a great reminder of the scenery right outside our doors.
