Jerad: Absolutely heartbreaking news coming out of James Smith Cree Nation. Two members of the local band Constant Reminder have passed away in a car accident.

I started my radio career in Melfort 13 years ago, and I have a solid memory of seeing these kids perform at the Melfort Fair. I was absolutely blown away by their drive and talent.

Rest in peace Seth and Rene Constant, and to the man from Kinistino who also lost his life...Please keep their family in your thoughts as we head into the weekend.

James Smith Cree Nation Mourns the Loss of Two Members of the Band Constant Reminder

James Smith Cree Nation, SK - James Smith Cree Nation is deeply saddened to learn of the tragic passing of two of our community members who were part of the beloved music group Constant Reminder.

These talented young men carried our Nation's spirit with pride through their music, inspiring many across our lands and beyond. Their songs celebrated resilience, family, and identity, values that are deeply rooted in who we are as Cree people. Their loss is felt not only by their families but by all who knew them, heard them perform, and were moved by the gift of their music.

On behalf of Chief and Council and the entire James Smith Cree Nation, we extend our heartfelt condolences to the families, friends, and fans of these gifted artists. We share in your grief and offer our prayers for strength and healing during this difficult time.

Their legacy will live on through their music and the memories they created for all of us.

Jerad: This Summer, Andrew Hyatt unleashed his new project, a self-titled EP dubbed “Andrew Hyatt and the Ten Year War”. This is a stripped-down raw, emotional dive through his past ten years in the music industry.

Andrew is going on tour, and the first date is October 17 in Saskatoon at the Capitol Music Club. We had the chance to chat with Andrew on the phone, and he lays down the story of this EP, what to expect in his show (much like a stripped down songwriters’ round), and his immediate plans for the rest of the year.

Thanksgiving is this weekend and it - traditionally - consists of a few staples. Turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, stuffing, cranberry sauce, some kind of root veg, pumpkin pie.

What I'm curious about though is the *less* traditional items your family has at the table. i.e. recently I learned of a family that swaps the mashed potatoes out with a giant thanksgiving poutine made from scratch...

Took me a while to wrap my head around that one but now I want it 😭

What less common, untraditional dish is at your Thanksgiving table? A special dessert? Grandmas famous casserole? The more unique the better!

Jerad: Alan Jackson is doing one last show in Nashville before he hangs it up for good.

Ending it in Nashville where it all began. This is a beautiful and poetic way to say goodbye to the music world, but I’d be lying if I said it wasn’t a sad thing to hear. He’s definitely one of the best to ever do it. End of an era!

We are happy to support Gordon Tootoosis Nīkānīwin Theatre and the upcoming production of "Coywolf", playing at Studio 914 (914 20th St W) from October 16 - 26.
