Meet the artist:
Devon was born and raised in Saskatoon. He is from the George Gordon First Nation and spends most of his time working as a human resource specialist, as well as being a father and husband. Devon has been into music production and creation since he was very young. Primarily specializing in beat making and rapping, he fell in love with the culture and made it a huge part of who he is. Devon enjoys all varieties of music and creative outlets but became best known for his freestyling and battling. He has over 11 championships under his belt and has had over 150 battles. He has done tours, and shows and hosted tons of events. His biggest focus is now helping others hone and find what they like about the arts and culture behind the music. Finding ways to reach, guide and provide help for those that need it. He has a media production Studio called Infinite Studios YXE and will be opening it up this summer.

Meet the artists:
Alpha Kids Crew is a street dance collective specializing in Breaking that started in 2012 in Saskatoon SK. They have a diverse set of goals when it comes to this art, with some members focusing on high level competitions and performances, while others focus on community building by teaching and volunteering at various organizations. They travel across Canada and internationally to exchange with other Breaking milieus in order to elevate their understanding of Hip Hop culture.

The breakin’ community in Saskatchewan has been thriving since the early 90s, with popular events like Funkin’ in The Alley, The Lockdown, Game Theory, and Rock For Your Life. Breakin’ was also showcased in the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, highlighting its global appeal.

Meet the artist:
Sheldon Evacheski, better known as DJ Heywood, is a veteran turntablist and battle-tested DJ who’s been commanding decks since 2000. With roots in competitive DJing, Heywood has earned his stripes by winning numerous DJ battles and building a reputation for precision, creativity, and raw energy behind the turntables.

Over the years, DJ Heywood has shared stages with legends like Snoop Dogg, KRS-One, Nas, Merkules, NAV, and De La Soul, and has rocked crowds at major festivals across Canada. He’s also the founder of Passa Passa, the longest-running dancehall party in the Prairies, a cornerstone of the region’s nightlife for years.

An educator as much as a performer, Heywood has been teaching DJ classes since 2010, passing on his knowledge to the next generation of selectors and turntablists. In 2019, he was honored with a performance at the prestigious Governor General’s Ball, a testament to his standing in Canada’s cultural landscape.

Whether in the club, on the festival stage, or in the classroom, DJ Heywood continues to push the art of DJing forward with authenticity, skill, and a deep love for the craft.
