Chief Shingwauk Video Series Launch

Shingwauk Kinoomaage Gamig is pleased to invite students, community members, and leadership to the launch of the Chief Shingwauk Video Series.

This compelling three-part video series explores Chief Shingwauk’s vision and legacy, the intergenerational impacts of the Indian Residential School system, and pathways forward through healing, education, and reconciliation. Funded by the Indian Residential School Community Engagement Fund, the series brings together the voices of descendants, community leaders, Survivors of the Shingwauk Indian Residential School, students, and community members.

Through personal reflections and shared histories, the videos tell an important story of Baawaating; a story of resilience, pride, truth, loss, reclamation, and hope. Together, these perspectives honour the past while inspiring a stronger future grounded in understanding and education.

As we approach the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, this event offers a meaningful opportunity to learn, reflect, and engage in conversation. Survivors and featured participants from the video series will be in attendance, with time for discussion and community dialogue following the screenings.
