DOI2T

The official page for the SHLC's "Discover Online Integrated Information Technology" program (DOI2T).

DOI2T is an Indigenous-aimed tech literacy program, funded provincially by the Ontario government, and federally by the Canadian government's Skills for Success funding initiative. We contribute creative technologies (such as 3D printers, Ozobot robots, and Cricut crafting systems) that stay permanently in remote First Nations communities, and we provide ongoing in-person training for educators and learners about how to use these technologies.

Last week we went back to Webequie to teach everyone about robots (and some Cricut and 3D printing on the side)! It was wonderful. Thanks to the community and to KiHS for having us.

Just finishing up a quick trip to Webequie First Nation. Sang and Sue and the KiHS crew up there have a great thing going. Lots of Cricut fun. Lots of project. Lots of happy learners. Can’t wait to go back. It’s such a wonderful community!

We finally got back around to teaching the group at the KiHS classroom in Keewaywin how to use the Ozobot robots. Turns out that several of the KiHS students already know how to use Ozoblockly, and so the classroom has some big plans with these robots. We're excited to see what happens!

Tika in Keewaywin is very excited by paper Cricut projects. Take a look at the kraft board rhino we made for the classroom wall, as well as the holiday card he created.

Tika, the KiHS teacher in Keewaywin, has become a 3D printing and CAD expert! Take a look at the first two pictures in this post to see a coat hook he designed specifically to work with a quirky door setup in his classroom. Great work, Tika!

Last week we snuck in one final trip before the end of the year. Keewaywin is such a small but wonderful community, and as always, we were thrilled with our visit. This week we'll be posting some pics of the work we did, but beforehand, here are a few pictures of our time in the community.
