Boris, Dimitri, Lezanne, HJ, Alessandro, kitchen staff, skinners/trackers and everyone who makes this place so special, you're all doing an incredible job - thank you for another unforgettable trip! We spent 10 days in South Africa this year, filmed another 5 episodes, harvested a total of 9 incredible trophy animals and had a time we will never forget!

We ate incredibly well, the accommodations were the absolute best, the effort to find success in the field was the highest of priority for everyone involved. I've always said "A great outfitter has great guides and a great guide wants success more than the hunter". This is exactly the case at Basso Safaris! Boris and Dimitri work so hard for there hunters!

I fell in love with this place last year and the fact that we were able to bring 2 alberta hunters to join us this year, while supporting veterans in our latest raffle, it meant the world to me.
Congratulations to Spencer and Alex on an incredibly successful hunt, I feel honored to have been there along the way with you two!

IT HAPPENED! It flippinโ€™ happened. CAPE BUFFALO DOWN!

This is a hunt I trained for mentally and physically. I increased the poundage on my bow and worked with my favourite bow and arrow manufacturers to make sure I had the most efficient setup possible.

Boris and I had been talking for months about harvesting an old Cape buffalo cow. He knew of one in particular that was well beyond her breeding years and had become increasingly aggressive and dangerous within the herd.

The goal sounded simple: find her, get within archery range, and put the arrow exactly where it needed to be.

It took six days.

Each evening we had one small window when the herd came in to feed and drink. Some nights they never showed. Other nights we had only minutes. Our cow was smart, often leading the herd and never giving us the opportunity we needed.

Then came Day 6.

She was the first buffalo in, but we couldnโ€™t rush it and risk spooking the entire herd. After about 10 minutes, she finally turned broadside as she prepared to head back down the trail.

25 yards.

I drew, released, watched the arrow hit, and she was gone.

We tracked her into the thick Bushveld, where the herd was protecting her. Thatโ€™s when the reality of hunting dangerous game really hits you. These animals are incredibly powerful and can shut the lights off in seconds.

The retrieval was hair-raising and is a story Iโ€™ll gladly tell over a wh**ky someday. ๐Ÿ˜‚

But for now, my 2026 South African Cape buffalo is on the ground!

A huge thank you to my PH Dimitri and his father Boris for the preparation, countless hours spent patterning these animals, and ultimately making this opportunity possible. A special thanks to my new friend HJ for running the cameras and being there through the highs and lows of this hunt!

A Zebra has been on my bucket list for a long time, and today it all came together!

Weโ€™ve been hunting hard for my Cape buffalo, but decided to change things up this morning. After spending some time spot-and-stalk hunting, we spotted a bachelor herd of stallions. We played cat and mouse with them for a while until this old guy finally stopped broadside at just over 100 yards.

My cameraman was on him, and so was I! Before we knew it, he had toppled over, leaving virtually no need for a tracking job. Everything came together perfectly.

Zebras are such incredible animals. Theyโ€™re tough, incredibly strong, and can be surprisingly aggressive. Add in those unmistakable stripes, and theyโ€™ve always been one of my favourite African animals.

Absolutely thrilled to finally check this one off the bucket list! ๐Ÿฆ“๐Ÿ‡ฟ๐Ÿ‡ฆ
