Smiths Falls monitoring compost site after soil and groundwater tests:

The Town of Smiths Falls is keeping a close eye on its County Road 43 compost site after soil and groundwater tests showed some exceedances in provincial standards. Annual testing will continue, and results are shared with the Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks (MECP).

Council says there is no evidence the town’s drinking water is at risk, and staff are preparing a summary report to keep residents informed on ongoing monitoring efforts.
