I've been thinking about this for 6 months, and while I thought I'd wait and launch it next January, I've realised there is no time to waste! I've been doing multiple consultations with other business owners in the past couple of months and the demand for support is needed!

Last month I pushed myself on my own social media. Usually I’m too wrapped up in working on other people’s account. But I got an email about a Reels challenge for May plus knew I’d be promoting my in-person workshops, so figured I needed to up my game. Here’s a few things I tried and my thoughts:

▪️ Posted a Reel a day (almost)
I didn’t quite post every single day. That technique isn’t sustainable for me. What I saw?
My views from the start of the month compared to the end increased on average.
I got better at implementing certain effective techniques.
While I saw increased views and account reach, my engagement still comes from my followers.

▪️ Video views, profile traffic, and workshop sign up ads
Most of my valuable results came from my ads, however people wouldn’t have stuck around if my regular content wasn’t active.
I know I was reaching the right people based on my targeting as opposed to relying on the algorithm, chance, and time.
I saw these results and only spent $201.70 across all ads I ran.

▪️ Trial reels
I looked at old content that did alright and tried them out as trial reels. I didn’t try this enough for measurable results (only did it 4 times) and while I was reaching a few hundred non-followers by doing this, I saw no one take action from any of the trial reels.

I’ll break some of my actions down further in future posts, but the long and short of it… organic (ie unpaid social media) and paid social media works so well when done together. Which is why my workshop day was called Social Synergy. The two techniques work in synergy with one another.

I will not be posting daily moving forward. But I will be sharing 2-4 times a week and consistently running ads.

Oh and one thing I missed that I’ve been doing for a while… showing up daily in my Stories. At least work day daily. But I’ll talk about that in a separate post.

Am I convincing anyone else that ads are worth it? AND they don’t need to cost an arm and a leg to have an effect!

Good things are coming. Back in January I started to have an idea of something I wanted to build. I thought I’d develop it over a year and launch in 2026. The workshops you’ve seen me promote have been a stepping stone to this. Very rapidly I realised my offering needed to be online and I shouldn’t wait until 2026.

This June I’ll be working to put together online learnings for small businesses, community, membership, and a support network.

I don’t know how long it will take me to get all parts put together and I thought I’d focus on a course before a support network. But you know what? Everyone I’ve been consulting with and sharing knowledge with these past few months are wanting the support NOW.

So no delaying things or letting my mind get the better of me.

What's stopping you from incorporating paid ads into your social media strategy?

On top of our regular organic social media strategy for Facebook and Instagram (3 to 6 posts a week), this client and I have been discussing their company goals extensively. They've noticed that their brand story—who they are and what they do—has been lost recently. While we've run event-specific lead campaigns, we are now shifting our focus toward awareness campaigns. We're leveraging their best-performing organic posts and freshly created videos to better convey their unique story.

And the results are paying off. Soon, we'll integrate ads that guide customers further down the sales funnel.

Curious about our budget? We're spending just $15 per day, testing three different audiences and three ads. You don't need to spend a fortune to reach new eyes!

Work scene. Today is my husband’s birthday. I packed in work over the days leading up to today so that I didn’t need to do too much today and we could all hang out. Honestly, we didn’t do much. Tomorrow we’re going into town and will head to an exhibition and have lunch and enjoy time with family. I think our birthdays look very different than they did even 3 years ago. But hey, it felt good having posts scheduled and being able to sit back knowing my work was doing itself.

Hubs - “Something sexy. Like get that Facebook ad up.”
Guess we’re officially a dorky digital marketing household now!
