Tāl is the rhythmic cycle—the structure that holds time in Indian classical music. It is not read from charts but embodied through claps, hand gestures, and finger markings, where the body itself becomes the chart and the rhythm lives in awareness.

$29,000 raised so far — just beyond the halfway point.

For decades, the Toronto Tabla Ensemble has helped shape Canada’s cultural landscape—
training generations of artists, building bridges across traditions,
and holding Indian classical rhythm as a living, evolving art form.

This support does not fund a moment.
It sustains a legacy.

This video brings together students of Ritesh Das, who have been studying tabla with him over many years. Some began their training early in life; others joined later, and all continue their practice as they move through different stages — high school, university, and professional life.

Today, these students include doctors, architects, business students, and university and high school students. While living in different cities or studying away from home, they remain connected through online classes, in-person sessions in Toronto and London, Ontario, and periodic retreats.

In this intimate concert in London, Ontario, Ritesh Das’s students come together to share their ongoing work in rhythm, discipline, and attentive listening.

Tabla classes with Ritesh Das are offered in Toronto, London (Ontario), and online, welcoming students from Southwest Ontario and beyond.

The Toronto Tabla Ensemble is a teaching and performance collective rooted in Indian rhythmic tradition. Our work is built on long-term study, discipline, and ensemble practice—weekly classes, rehearsals, mentorship, and public performance. This is ongoing work, not project-based or seasonal.

We are now at $17,627 toward our $50,000 annual fundraising goal. These funds support the conditions that make the work possible: teaching time, rehearsal space, instruments, and access for students.

If this work has ever touched you, this is one way to stand behind its continuity.
Please donate if you feel moved. Please share if you cannot. Both matter.

Donations are processed securely via CanadaHelps:

In the last few hours, another $1,000 has come in.
Thank you.

This progress bar is not just numbers.
It reflects steady support for a living tradition—students practicing daily, elders guiding carefully, and music offered as service.

We are at $7,102 on a $50,000 journey.
There is still distance to travel, and that is natural. Real work unfolds step by step.

If the Toronto Tabla Ensemble has ever given you something—music, discipline, clarity, or community—please donate in whatever way feels right to you.
Support is welcome from Canada, the United States, and beyond.

Sharing this post is also a form of support.

An arts organization does not survive on applause alone — it survives when a community chooses to hold it.

The Toronto Tabla Ensemble is a living space of learning, discipline, and care.
This work touches children, youth, adults, and senior citizens.
It is ongoing, not event-based.
It depends on continuity.

Non-profit arts do not run on profit or scale.
They run on time, attention, and human presence.
Your support protects teaching time, outreach, and depth.

If this work has ever touched you, this is one way to stand with it.

What is passed hand to hand cannot be automated.

The Toronto Tabla Ensemble is a living practice — built through teaching, ensemble work, collaboration, and long-term relationships. Some of this work appears on stage. Much of it happens quietly, over years, through discipline, listening, and shared presence.

This is not event-based work.
It depends on continuity.

Your support protects time for teaching and rehearsal, holds space for musicians and students to return, and allows this work to continue across generations and cultures.

If this work has ever touched you, this is one way to stand with it.
