AUDITION CALL (NON-UNION) – BACKGROUND ROLES – DESTINATION ST. JOHN’S - VIDEO AND PHOTO PRODUCTION

WE ARE COMMITTED TO PROGRESSIVE, EQUITABLE CASTING.
WE ARE LOOKING FOR DIVERSE ETHNICITIES, ABILITIES, GENDERS, AGES, BODY TYPES, ETC. WE ENCOURAGE TALENT TO APPLY IN BUBBLES.
SHOOT DATES: Between June 14th - 26th (TBC)
LOCATION: In or near downtown St. John’s (specific locations TBD)
PAY: MAIN ROLES: $250 half-day (minimum), with the possibility of $500 for a full day BACKGROUND ROLES: $150 (roles of servers, bartenders, patrons at brewery and bar)
LOOKING TO CAST THE FOLLOWING MAIN, NON-SPEAKING ROLES
1 Couple
A BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, Person of Colour) couple. Age 30-50. Any gender. To portray tourists at Cape Spear, and patrons at a brewery and watching live music at a bar.
1 Boat Captain
A BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, Person of Colour) person to play a boat captain. Age 40-70. Any gender. Must be comfortable on a small recreational boat for up to 3 hours. Boat-driving experience would be an asset, but not required.
1 Artist
A BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, Person of Colour) artist. Age 25-60. Any gender. Must be a maker of a tangible product such as pottery, visual art, textiles, etc. Must bring their own supplies to set for a live demonstration. Please include photos of art in submission.
2 Brewery patrons
1 adult with a visible disability, plus 1 partner or friend (in the same bubble). Age 25-45. Any gender. Any ethnicity. Please indicate accessibility needs required on set. Transportation to set can be arranged if required.
2 Cape Spear tourists
1 adult with a visible disability, plus 1 partner or friend (in the same bubble). Age 20-45. Any gender. Any ethnicity. Must be comfortable walking/moving through the accessible trail at the Cape Spear site. Please indicate accessibility needs required on set. Transportation to set can be arranged if required.
2 Bar patrons
A 2SLGBTQIA+ couple (in the same bubble). Age 20-40. Any gender. Any ethnicity. Must be comfortable being in an indoors, closed set, with up to 10 masked BG/crew on set.
2 Children playing
A child with a visible disability, plus 1 sibling or friend (in the same bubble). Age 5-9. Any gender. Any ethnicity. Must be able to take direction on set (chaperone will be required.) Please indicate accessibility needs required on set. Transportation to set can be arranged if required.
2-3 Musicians
2-3 racially diverse musicians. Age 20-60. Folk/acoustic genres preferred. Must have own instruments and be willing to perform live on set. Ideally, they perform together regularly (are in the same bubble), but not essential.
Drag Performer and friend
Drag performer, plus partner or friend (in the same bubble). Age 20-40. Any gender. Any ethnicity. Must be able to come in full costume and make-up, in consultation with the production team. Drag performers will be required all day and will be compensated with a Special Skilled Performer Fee.
LOOKING TO CAST THE FOLLOWING BACKGROUND ROLES
4 Bartenders, 4 Servers, 8 Patrons
Any gender, age, abilities, race, body type. Ideally couples and groups already in the same bubble.
Application is ASAP but the deadline to apply is Sunday, June 6th.

Please note: COVID-19 Protocols will be followed onset (6ft apart and sanitizing). Masks will be worn at all times by crew, and talent in bubbles will be able to remove them while shooting in front of camera. Breaks will be taken where applicable.
