Over the past year I have hadthe great fortune to have these 4038’s in my studio. Originally designed for the BBC, these “pancake” mics are legends and I’ve used them on so many sources but def drums and acoustic instruments and piano and percussion and amps and even voices, which perhaps they are less known for. It’s incredible to me that I’ve been able to have such beauties in my small space and they are one of the essential pieces/tools that I own.
