O Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
We come before you with heavy hearts, lifting up all those affected by the tragic events in Vancouver. We pray for the souls of those who have died — receive them into your eternal light and grant them rest. Comfort the families and friends who now grieve such sudden and devastating loss. Surround them with your tender mercy, and uphold them with your peace that passes all understanding.
We pray for those who were injured: grant them healing in body, mind, and spirit. Strengthen the hands of doctors, nurses, and all caregivers attending to them. Give wisdom, skill, and compassion to all who serve.
We pray especially for the Filipino community, shaken and heartbroken by this tragedy. Pour out your love upon them, O Lord, and bind up their broken hearts. May they find strength in one another and in you.
In times of darkness, help us to be bearers of light; in moments of sorrow, teach us to be instruments of your peace. Remind us always that even in the valley of the shadow of death, you are with us, and your rod and staff will comfort us.
Grant that out of this deep sorrow may come a renewed commitment to love, compassion, and community.
We ask all this through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.
