Fall service change in South Okanagan-Similkameen

Transit System: South Okanagan-Similkameen

BC Transit, the Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen and the City of Penticton are advising transit customers of seasonal service change, effective September 2, 2025.

To adjust to an increase in demand with the school year starting, some trips on Route 5 Main will be adjusted.

The 9:25 a.m. trip on Route 10 Naramata, departing from Cherry Lane Shopping Centre, will be removed for the season. As well, trips added to Route 16 Lake to Lake for the summer evenings will be removed.

As part of this service change, Route 50 Penticton/Princeton will stop at the Similkameen Rec Centre for all trips and the on-request stop in Cawston will be removed.

Please check the Rider’s Guide for all schedule changes and times.

🎸 Riley and Lucian FM Statement 🎸

It is with deep sadness that we share the news that Ozzy Osbourne, legendary frontman of Black Sabbath and an icon of heavy metal, has passed away at the age of 76.

In a statement, his family said: “It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning.”

Ozzy was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 2019 but continued to perform, delivering Black Sabbath’s farewell show in his hometown of Birmingham just two weeks ago.

Known for his electrifying stage presence — and unforgettable moments like the infamous bat incident — Ozzy shaped the sound and spirit of metal for generations. In the 2000s, fans got to know a different side of him and his family through the reality TV series The Osbournes, giving a glimpse into their chaotic but loving lives.

Today, we remember a true rock legend whose voice, attitude, and music changed the world.

💔 Rest in peace, Ozzy. You’ll never be forgotten. 🕊️

Transit Detour

Green Ave will be closed at Eraut St from Thursday & Friday July 3rd & 4th - Monday & Tuesday July 7th & 8th. This will affect the #1 & #5 buses.

The #1 bus will have to detour via Skaha Lake Rd and Galt Ave. The bus will turn left onto Skaha Lake Rd from Green Ave, turn right onto Galt Ave and continue onto Pineview Rd. The reverse route will have the bus continue onto Galt Ave from Pineview Rd and turn left onto Skaha Lake Rd going to Peachtree. The bus stops on Green Ave between Skaha Lake Rd and South Main, and the bus stops on South Main between Green Ave and Galt Ave will not be in service for these four days.

The #5 bus southbound will turn left onto Galt Ave from Skaha Lake Rd, right onto South Main and continue to Yorkton Ave. The bus stops on Skaha Lake Rd between Galt Ave and Brandon Ave will not be in service for these three days. The bus will run northbound as usual
