Join NWPS and naturalist Roy Jantzen for a guided Wildlife Weekends nature walk in Capilano Park on October 4th.

Roy brings years of experience as a naturalist and educator, and together we’ll slow down, listen closely, and discover the hidden connections that make our local ecosystems thrive. From the smallest forest floor critters to the towering canopy above, every step offers a chance to see nature with new eyes.

This walk is designed for all ages! Families, students, and curious explorers are all welcome. 🍂👨‍👩‍👧‍👦

The mountains inspire stories from around the world—and we’re thrilled to share this year’s Banff Mountain Book Competition longlist! After reviewing 142 submissions from 11 countries, our committee selected 24 books and 5 articles across 7 categories.

Category winners will be presented and the Grand Prize will be announced during the Festival in Banff on Thursday, November 6 in the Jenny Belzberg Theatre at Yosemite Women Firsts, Book Awards - and Films. Natalie Appleton studied journalism at the University of Regina and creative writing at City University London. Her literary travel memoir, I Have Something to Tell You, followed publication of an essay in The New York Times. Natalie has won Prairie Fire’s Banff Centre Bliss Carman Poetry Award and Room Magazine’s Creative Non-fiction Contest. She lives in the Okanagan with her husband and sons.
