On December 13, our community comes together at York Centre for something bigger than all of us — our annual Help the Homeless Drive.

This is a moment to show who we are as a community: caring, united, and committed to lifting each other up.

We’re calling on everyone to join us and bring:
• Canned goods & non-perishables
• Lightly worn clothing
• Feminine hygiene products
• Toiletries & essentials
• Baby food, baby bottles, and infant supplies

Every donation goes directly to Surrey Food Bank, Pathfinder Youth Centres, and Dixon Transition Society — organizations that support families, youth, and women in need.

Let’s rally together, show our strength, and remind our city what community truly means.
Come out, donate, and be the reason someone feels supported this season.

Veteran Bollywood actor Dharmendra, widely known as the “He-Man” of Indian cinema, passed away at the age of 89 due to health complications.

The legendary actor was admitted to Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital, where he had been receiving treatment. With a career spanning over six decades, Dharmendra was celebrated for his iconic performances in classics such as Sholay, Chupke Chupke, and Phool Aur Patthar. When Zohran Mamdani sat down with President Trump, it shocked nearly everyone. The two had spent months clashing over immigration and social justice issues. Their unexpected cordial exchange raised eyebrows — and questions.

Zohran Mamdani, a Ugandan-born South Asian Muslim organizer and democratic socialist, was elected mayor of New York City — a seismic shift in who leads America’s largest city.

His victory stands in powerful contrast to years of Trump-era anti-immigrant and anti-Muslim policies. NYC has chosen a leader who represents its true identity: diverse, immigrant-powered, working-class, unapologetically inclusive.

His victory was bigger than politics — it’s about belonging, visibility, and a city choosing hope over fear.

We don’t talk about this enough: Most men are carrying battles they never speak about. Not because they don’t feel pain — but because they were taught to hide it. “I’m fine” has become the mask.

Work. Gym. Jokes. Silence. But underneath? Stress, pressure, loneliness, exhaustion… and no safe place to put it.

This Movember, the goal isn’t just to grow a moustache. It’s to grow awareness. Grow conversations. Grow spaces where men can say, “I’m not okay,” and know they won’t be judged, dismissed, or told to “man up.”

Checking in isn’t a big, dramatic act. It’s small moments that make space for honesty. “How’s your mind today?” “Need to vent?” “Want company or advice?” You never know which simple question might save someone’s brother, son, partner, or friend.

If you’re reading this and you’ve been holding everything inside: You don’t have to. Talking doesn’t make you weak. It makes you human. And there are people who want to hear you — really hear you.

Grow a mo. Start a convo. Support the men in your life.

Our Story

The Times of Canada group was established in 2010 with the vision to create a better understanding of the South Asian culture, heritage, fairs, and festivals and its people within the mainstream Canadian society. We aim to spread awareness about the achievements, talents, and exceptional contribution of extraordinary of South Asian community members.

The South Asian community is one of the most diverse yet integrated resident forces here in Canada encompassing inhabitants that have origins rooted in countries like India, Pakistan, Fiji, Africa, and the UK. Our focus has been to create opportunities where the multiculturalism fabric of our country is strengthened. We endeavor to bridge the gap between the cultures and reinforce better understanding, unity, harmony, and coherence amongst the two amalgamated societies that have fascination and curiosity to know more about each other as they co-exist.

The unique differentiator that sets the endeavors of The Times of Canada group apart from others is that it has been employing multiple approaches and utilizing its distinctive distribution channels panning thoroughly and comprehensively across the Lower Mainland area to impart relevant subject matter and knowledge about the community.

Needless to mention, the leading force behind this impressive success of The Times of Canada group has been the dynamism, enthusiasm, motivation, and drive of its CEO and promoter Vinay Sharma, a well-known and respected name with a long history of service to his community whether it was in India or now, here in Canada.
