The S.S. Sicamous is the largest surviving stern in British Columbia. Owned by the Canadian Pacific Railway, The S.S. Sicamous was used to transport passengers and cargo to remote communities along the shore of Okanagan Lake.

Operating from 1914 until 1936, the Sicamous once transported passengers, mail and cargo from Penticton to Vernon. Serving the many shoreside communities of Okanagan lake for just over 2 decades.

Vivid Virgo Cluster: Captured by the NSF–DOE Vera C. Rubin Observatory on June 23, 2025. One of the first images produced by the telescope, which has the largest digital camera in the world. Its 8.4-meter Simonyi Survey Telescope, designed by philanthropist Charles Simonyi, is paired with the 3.2-billion-pixel LSST Camera, the largest digital camera ever built, capable of capturing a field of view equivalent to 40 full moons every few nights. The LSST will produce a catalog of 40 billion celestial objects, including 20 billion galaxies and 20 billion stars, making it the most comprehensive map of the visible universe ever created.

Coyote in Death Valley National Park. They are well adapted to survive in this harsh desert habitat. They feed primarily on rabbits, birds, and reptiles. We find them in various habitats from the forest to the tundra, desert and mountains. Unfortunately, interactions between humans and coyotes often contribute to their premature deaths. Feeding wild animals can change their lifestyles, causing them to move closer to roads, attack tourists, and more.

This is the Grand Canyon from the Toroweap viewpoint. The photo was taken about 15 minutes after sunset. Did you know that the river is about 3,000 feet below? This makes for a very impressive viewpoint. The Toroweap campground is just around the corner, and it can accommodate campers who come to admire the view. Be aware that you have 60 miles to cover on gravel roads, and the last 3 miles require a tall, off-road vehicle.
