The Black Sprout Production Presents…Digital Deliberation: Beyond Black Twitter

This is an audio show in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Arts in the program of Media Production at TMU.

This project tempts to ask how young Black Canadians are engaging with media content that is filled with anti-Black racism. Historically, Black people and Black bodies have been seen in media, not as complex characters, but reduced to stereotypes. The only way to change the homogenization of Black people and to have more regionally diverse stories is to disrupt complacency and stop hearing the same voices.

My name is Zoya Hill and I am currently a student at Toronto Metropolitan University. I am completing my master’s in media production and as part of the requirements for my degree, I am conducting a master research project.

This study hopes to identify the daily habits of Black Canadian youth online and on their social media platformThis study hopes to identify the daily habits of Black Canadian youth online and on their social media platform. Ultimately, it hopes to provide data for future advocacy for the Canadian Black community.

I'm seeking out a minimum of 50 participants for this survey.
