TL;DR: Despite a major, temporary setback, we continue to offer the excellent service you have grown to expect while searching for our new home.
It is with great sadness and shock that we announce our immediate move out of our beloved location.
30th street has been our home since 2016. We’ve housed every type of production there from music videos, to foley, motion capture, virtual AGMs, orchestral recordings, miniature bug worlds, toy commercials, podcasts, live music clinics, and oh so much more.
Though the pandemic was a trying time; we survived, and even thrived. The efficiency and quality we built into our studios, combined with our breezy customer support made us somewhat “pandemic proof”.
While we managed to weather the brunt of the lockdowns, it was by no means smooth sailing. Many of our neighbours in the building (mostly other creative studios) endured similar hardships. To our knowledge, all tenent requests for rent relief, even during the height of the lockdown, were rejected by the landlord.
It then came as no surprise to anyone (except said landlord) that many, perhaps even most businesses in the building either closed down shop, or left in favour of a more affordable location. Many units have remained vacant since.
Fast forward to last month. Management in the building has informed us that the building (or parts of it, they like to be vague) is being sold. We were given only 30 days to pack everything up and leave. No warning. No explanation. No room for discussion. 30 days to take apart and store a studio hub that took well over a year to build.
This news hit us like a ton of lawyered-up bricks. Frankly, it’s hard to describe the overwhelming shock and disrespect we felt in those moments. So I won’t even try. Instead, I can tell you that we did what we do best -we got it together, and started solving the problem. More on that later.
