I still think that Ted Lasso S03E09, La Locker Room Aux Folles, is one of the, if not the, single best written episode of television to date. This whole show is essential viewing but THAT episode is ESSENTIAL viewing.

I don't know if it's just me, but as someone who really likes movies; I really don't care about how much money they make, or how fast they make it.

Is it good if a great movie is successful? Of course. Do I need to know when a movie has made x amount of dollars in y market? No, not at all. It's boring and I don't want to hear about it.

There's a Paw Patrol movie coming out. It has dinosaurs in it.

It's called Paw Patrol: The Dino Movie.

It is not called Paw Patrol: Jurassic Bark.

I'm gonna ask you all to indulge me for a moment because I'm going to talk about professional wrestling and I know that's not why most of you are here, but... I have nowhere else to say this.

I like AEW. I enjoy how it presents itself, I enjoy that there's a greater focus on great quality wrestling matches over (but not without) the abundance of either overly complicated or underbaked storyline elements. But, as far as I am concerned, AEW has one big problem* which is holding it back, and that is match & show lengths.

AEW Retribution was this last Sunday. It's a brand new PPV, it wasn't being presented as a marque show, and yet it was 5 hours, with 10 matches - excluding the pre-show, which was another hour. That's just too long for a standard PPV; even if the matches are excellent (and this wasn't the case on this show).

Great wrestling is great wrestling, but every match on an AEW PPV has multiple false finisher finishes. Every match was 20 - 30 minutes long and that just isn't necessary all the time.

I really enjoy AEW most of the time, but they need to reign in these PPVs.

I'm off work from my actual job this week, so I'm going to try and dedicate a little time to writing some reviews of films I've seen lately (including The Invite and The Odyssey đź‘€)

I did also find a cinema that's still got screenings of Disclosure Day, so I'm excited to go and see that this week. What a time to be alive!

The Toronto Outdoor Picture Show is showing Wildhood at Corktown Common on August 6th.

I showed it at Duke's Refresher Riverside as part of an Indigenous Stories double bill for Canada Day last year, and it's an absolutely beautiful film. I would encourage everyone who is able to go catch it, and support TOPS as they're a great organisation.

They have screenings at multiple parks in the city, every week throughout the summer. Gentlemen Prefer Blondes is on this week too. Absolutely worth checking out!

I am going to write a full review of The Furious, but only after I figure how to make it more eloquent than "Goddamn that's almost certainly the best martial arts action movie I've ever seen". Right now that's the only sentence I think when I think of it.
