I saw promising things from the both of them, it's only the second time they've played together. We will see more of them playing together in the future.

"It's helpful in the upcoming weeks that we won't play as many games as we did until now. I wonder if there are more teams that have played three games in seven days this season. We had to do it three times already this season.

"I am almost happy we are out of the League Cup, because if we had to play with 13 outfield players available with any Premier League experience, and we had to go to Arsenal away on Tuesday after already so many games played, then maybe people can understand a bit better why I made that line-up against Crystal Palace.

"I think the bare minimum I need to give to my team is threat. Obviously trying to score and be as decisive as possible, that's the next level I need to get to in terms of being consistently decisive for club and country. I think I can reach that level."

Mohamed Salah appears to see no future at Liverpool, but leaving won’t be simple. His explosive comments are seen as either an attempt to force a move or to pressure Arne Slot, who is already under scrutiny after poor results in Liverpool’s title defence.

Liverpool insist they won’t sell. They highlight that Salah is under contract until 2027 and say his recent spell out of the XI was only temporary.

Still, if Salah maintains a hardline stance and no solution is found, things could become untenable.

Toni Kroos on his toughest opponent: "I’ll stick with N’Golo Kante. It was always one of those midfield duels. Not super often. We didn’t play each other that much, but whenever we played Chelsea, he was always an unpleasant opponent.

"Not because he kicked a lot or anything like that, but because he always seemed to be there. That’s annoying."
