We are proud to present the digital edition of Volume X of the Anthropology Undergraduate Journal! This volume marks a decade of showcasing outstanding undergraduate work in
anthropology for the AUJ.

This volume features a wide range of anthropological inquiry, and many of the articles combine research methods from multiple subfields as well as other social sciences, promoting both inter- and intra-disciplinary dialogue. The articles in this volume touch on critical themes including colonial legacies, religious and political identity, Indigenous resistance, capitalism and neoliberalism, gender and sex-based oppression, and systemic racism. Volume X also features two original ethnographies as well as several articles from the emergent field of medical anthropology.

The Anthropology Undergraduate Journal is now taking submissions for our 2021-2022 edition to be published in April 2022! We encourage you to submit a paper you’re particularly proud of from any of the four subfields of anthropology or any related disciplines that use anthropological methods and theory. ATTENTION ANTHROPOLOGY UNDERGRADS

The Anthropology Undergraduate Journal at U of T provides the opportunity for undergrads across all three campuses to publish outstanding coursework or independent research from courses at the 3rd year level and above. The AUJ encourages interdisciplinary scholarship; we accept papers from all four subfields of anthropology as well as papers employing anthropological methods and theory from other social sciences including Indigenous studies, sexual and gender diversity studies, women and gender studies, and diaspora and transnational studies. We will be collecting submissions in January 2022 (exact deadlines coming soon), so we hope you'll keep the AUJ in mind as you write your papers this semester!

We are also looking for editors to join our team to help us prepare the journal for publication and make student work shine. Keep an eye out for the application form that will be posted in the coming week!

You're welcome to contact us with any questions at [email protected]. We’re looking forward to working with you to create an outstanding 10th volume of the journal for the 2021-22 academic year!
