𝐈𝐟 𝐈 𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐢𝐧 𝐜𝐨𝐫𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐭𝐨𝐝𝐚𝐲, 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐢𝐬 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐈'𝐝 𝐛𝐞 𝐛𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞.
Not another job.
Not something that needed me to leave my salary tomorrow.
And definitely not something that meant swapping one boss for another. 😅
I'd be building 𝐚𝐧 𝐨𝐧𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐛𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐦𝐲 𝐨𝐰𝐧.
Quietly.
Alongside my career.
A few hours at a time.
Because if there's one thing I wish I'd understood earlier, it's this...
𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐬𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐩𝐚𝐲 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐞 𝐭𝐨𝐝𝐚𝐲.
𝐁𝐮𝐭 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐛𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐨𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐫𝐨𝐰?
For years, I gave everything to my career.
I worked hard. I climbed. I hit targets. I took on more responsibility.
And I genuinely believed that was what security looked like.
Until one day I realised I'd spent decades building a career...
but I hadn't built myself another choice.
That's the bit I'd do differently.
If I were sitting in corporate today, I wouldn't necessarily walk away.
𝐈'𝐝 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐛𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐛𝐞𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐈 𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐝𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨.
I'd learn digital skills.
I'd build something that could work from a laptop.
I'd create an asset that belonged to me.
I'd use the experience I'd already spent decades gaining instead of believing I had to start all over again.
And I'd give myself time to grow it without the pressure of desperately needing it to work overnight.
Because sometimes the smartest Plan B...
is the one you start building while Plan A is still paying the bills.

Maybe the question isn't:
"Should I leave my job?"
Maybe it's simply:
"What could I start building alongside it?"
