You may have noticed that we have been inactive lately. That’s because our team is taking a well-needed break!

During our hiatus, our shop will be closed, but there are still ways to buy our products:

- Buy our zines through ’s silent auction until November 22nd
- Visit our table at the Holdiay Shopping Event on December 11th from 10am-4pm. We will be at the Fairview Community Centre in Brantford, ON.

We want to make Kiwi a better and more interactive platform and while we’re away, that is what we will be towards.

Thank you to everyone who has continuities to support us. We’ll be back soon.

Today, our team was able to virtually facilitate art and writing workshops at Sir Allan MacNab Secondary School in Hamilton, Ontario. Thanks to the TOP zine microgrant, we were able to provide amazing resource kits and teach students about the elements of flash fiction and collage making! The students got to write their own pieces of flash fiction and create their own collages. They also received materials to continue making art by themselves. On top of that, we got to teach them about some amazing racialized creators based in Canada! We can’t wait to share the incredible artwork created by these students in March 2022.

Thank you to Kiwi team members Ivy Sarker and Rue Mader for creating and facilitating such insightful and engaging workshops.

This was such a wonderful experience and we are so excited to be planning more events like this for the summer.

If you are interested in having Kiwi Collective Magazine present a workshop at your school during the 2022-2023 school year, an inquiry process will be made available in March 2022.

“The hijab was neither my oppressor
Nor was it my enemy worth doubting

It was not an unbearable burden
Placed onto my Muslim body at birth

The hijab was my solace, my choice,
My first best friend in the vast world

My hijab was an endless mirror
Of which I stared at many reflections”

Excerpt from “The Seed Planted in My Mother’s Womb” by Aicha Issa ()

Full piece is available to read in Issue 2: Power.

Power is on sale until October 31st. 50% of each purchase goes towards racialized organizers facing unjust charges in the campaign
