FARIOLI: “WHEN YOU DO THINGS WELL, KARMA APPEARS.”

Francesco Farioli reserved special praise for Nehuén Pérez after the defender scored in FC Porto’s 2-0 victory over Rio Ave.

Farioli revealed that he spoke with Nehuén on Thursday about potentially getting minutes with the B team to improve his fitness. Instead, injuries opened the door with the first team — and the Argentine responded with a goal and a strong performance.

The Porto coach was more critical of the overall display, admitting there are “things to improve” despite another victory and clean sheet: “We could have managed things better at certain moments, but we were efficient and, in football, the result is the most important thing.”

THE TUGAFOOTY VERDICT | RIO AVE 0-2 FC PORTO

FC Porto made it two wins from two in Liga Portugal with another controlled performance and another clean sheet. Nehuén Pérez opened the scoring after 11 minutes before Borja Sainz sealed the victory in the 82nd, assisted by Inbeom Hwang.

The Dragons were not at full intensity throughout the second half, but Rio Ave rarely found a way through. Diogo Costa produced a crucial save before half-time, while Porto also had a goal disallowed and Deniz Gül struck the post.

TugaFooty Rating: 8/10. Nehuén Pérez impressed on his return to the starting XI, but Diogo Costa gets the MOTM for delivering when Porto needed him most. Two matches, six points, four goals scored and none conceded is an excellent start for Francesco Farioli's side.

🚨 RODRIGO MORA WANTS ROMA MOVE.

Rodrigo Mora has reportedly made Roma his preferred destination and rejected an approach from Galatasaray. According to Gazzetta dello Sport, the midfielder has informed his representatives of his desire to move to the Italian capital.

Roma’s previous proposal was an €8M loan plus a €42M mandatory purchase clause triggered by Champions League qualification and Mora playing 60% of matches. FC Porto rejected those conditions and want guarantees that make the permanent transfer easier to trigger.

Roma are now reportedly preparing a new proposal as negotiations continue. There is currently no agreement between the clubs.

On August 15, 2008, Benfica hosted the inaugural Eusébio Cup at the Estádio da Luz, beginning a new tradition honouring one of the greatest figures in Portuguese football history.

European giants Inter Milan were the first opponents. After a 0-0 draw over 90 minutes, the Italians claimed the trophy with a 5-4 victory on penalties.

The result was secondary to the occasion — it marked the beginning of an annual tribute to Eusébio and his extraordinary legacy at Benfica.

Benfica and Newcastle have reportedly reached an agreement for Amar Dedić in a deal worth €35 million, with the Eagles also retaining a percentage of a future transfer.

🚨 BENFICA HAVE OPENING BID REJECTED FOR HARWOOD-BELLIS.

Southampton have rejected Benfica’s first offer for Taylor Harwood-Bellis, with the proposal considered below their valuation of the 24-year-old centre-back.

The door remains open, however. Southampton are reportedly willing to negotiate if Benfica improve their offer, while Harwood-Bellis is understood to be interested in a move to the Estádio da Luz.

The England international is Marco Silva’s preferred target to strengthen Benfica’s defence.
