Huge congratulations to YUMMS mentor and director Chandler Levack on the premiere of her sophomore feature MILE END KICKS at TIFF this year! We were lucky to have her join Ingrid Veninger’s Creative Producing course at YUMMS last year, where she inspired our students with her industry wisdom. Up next: Levack is set to direct Netflix’s upcoming comedy ROOMMATES, produced by Adam Sandler and starring Sarah Sherman, Natasha Lyonne, Nick Kroll, and more 👏🎬

YUMMS is thrilled to welcome award-winning screenwriter and producer ALYSON RICHARDS to York University! In her new tenure-track role, Alyson joins the Screenwriting Area in the Department of Cinema & Media Arts. Known for The Retreat and Children Ruin Everything, she’s celebrated for crafting bold, inclusive, and genre-defying narratives. She’ll be teaching courses at YUMMS all year—and we couldn’t be more excited to have her on site. Welcome, Alyson 🖋️

Wishing our amazing Director Ingrid Veninger all the best as she embarks on a well-deserved one-year sabbatical! Here’s to a year of rest, reflection, and lots of writing. Ingrid will be working on three new screenplays and will return next July recharged and ready for more YUMMS adventures. Bon voyage ⛵

Throwback to our final Industry Talks of the year with the amazing duo Motion and Ingrid Veninger! We welcomed dozens of guests into the space for an inspiring session on writing for film and television. The evening was topped off with a delicious veggie sushi buffet and a live DJ—an incredible way to wrap up the school year, celebrate everyone’s achievements, and spark new connections 🍣
